Default Cobra Glove Box Knob "The right one!"

Hey guys check this out on ebay: 190447582184. These are really nice pieces to add to our cars. I picked one up myself and it just looks SOOO much better than the old knob!! These are obsolete I believe so this has got to be a great deal!! Matt

Just so everyone is clear, the lock doesn't actually work. From the Ebay listing:

"Original style AC Cobra glove box knob, does not operate. The key lock and knob is faux, but it all looks like an original part."

Maybe you can post a pic of the before and after?

The original ones were from a Nash Metropolitan I believe and they are just hard as nails to find. These are an exact copy and yes the lock doesn't work but it looks so much better than the cabinet pull from Home depot!! I will see if I can get some pics of mine. Not to good with all the image stuff but will try. It's just one of those small details some of us recognize. Matt

Ah, OK. The CSX continuation cars come with a locking glove box, although it's not the most attractive lock in the world and offers no real security.

Matt

Is this a solid part or can it take the Nash parts? I have a Nash unit, nice but could use a facelift.

It's no secret but FIA's didn't have glove boxes.

Two of the 16 or so FIA/USRRC "cutback door" 289 competition cars had glove boxes: CSX 2557 and 2558, the last two built.

CSX 2557:

CSX 2558:

CSX 2557 was sold at auction in August. Here is a link to the listing which has some nice pics and some interesting history:

Yes, that was me. Sorry about that. I had ordered one from Cobra Restorers 3 months ago but they were out of stock. After winning on e-bay I called to cancel and was told they just came in. Go figure. So they have them in stock if interested. A little more pricy, but what the heck. John O

Whoever is selling these on eBay sent me an email after I lost out saying he had "one more" if I wanted it at the same price. I'll bet he's got several more!

I'm interested in this style knob, but therre was a differnt kind on the 427's. It was a"T" handle, I think.

Does anybody know where I could find one of those?

Thanks
