ERA FIA 289...I took delivery this morning
I would like to thank everyone for your help in finding the right car, especially RickD. The movers picked up the car up from ERA last night and dropped in off this morning at 7am. I was able to take a couple laps around the neighborhood before going to work. Let me just say it was awesome, even better than I was hoping.
I still have to get the car insured and registered so it will be stuck in the garage for a while, but I'll keep everyone posted on the process. I am waiting on a call back from State Farm, does anyone have a better option for insurance in NJ? |
SO glad to hear you found what you wanted. Like you, I am a 289 affecionado.....they just have that "lean and mean" look about them. ERA is one of the big dogs in the industry, you made a good choice there!
Please post some photos!! Cheers from Dugly  |
congrats on the new toy. I know exactly what you are going through. I just received my Superformance a couple of weeks ago and still grinning ear to ear. For insurance I went through American Modern Insurance Company (RV America) and was very impressed with their rates. I was able to get full coverage at replacement value for a few hundred a year.

Congrats on your ERA! Any pictures? Where are you located in NJ? If you need any information on the safety inspection or registration, let me know.
I use Condon & Skelly in Maple Shade, NJ. $70,000 agreed coverage with 3000 mile limit and towing for $400 per year. Backed by MetLife. You want to make shure you get agreed coverage. If the car is totaled or stolen they would pay $70K. |
I'll try and post some pictures tonight when I get home. I live in North Jersey about 25mile west of Manhattan, if anyone knows a garage in that area. Thanks for your help

Another Insurance option is Northeast Classic Auto Insurance. They are out of CT.

Call Robbin at Midwest Classic insurance. He's a great guy and very straightforward and will point you in the right direction even if he can't help you for some reason. He couldn't actually insure me since I am in DC, but he did tell me how I could keep the same coverage with Hagerty and save $300 - which I did!

I have AAA -- they were very easy to get the car dealt with. - but this is CA -- your milage may vary in NJ -- congrats on your FIA!!
hope to see pics ! |
Congrats on the new baby! Wait for the comments; what year is that MG?:p Is it an original or a kit?;) Did it cost a lot?**) What kind of MPG do you get? WOW!
All questions make you feel good about someone taking notice. Enjoy, drive safe. Dennis |
Congrats on your FIA! ... look forward to seeing some pictures :):)

Jpit - CONGRATULATIONS!! Glad you got her home OK. Midwest classics is a good one also Infinity and Grundy?? (might have that wrong?). There are some excellent insurance companies that specialize ONLY in collectors car insuring - kit cars, collectible antiques. Many of the 'regular' insurers have outrageous limitations on replicas or "kits". State Farm in Miami wanted $1500.00 per year with a max of 1,500 miles per year. Went with Infinity with a $60,000 valuation for $700.00, and 5000 miles per year usage. Not only did you get an ERA, but the car was totally built in-house by Doug at ERA. It was the company car briefly, as we discussed. Great combo of 351 and the 5 speed. And tremendous to know they are just 2 hours from you. Enjoy!! Our "cobra" weather is just around the corner as the summer rains are (hopefully) coming to an end - and we can start going for weekend runs to the Florida Keys!! Enjoy!!!!! (and believe me, my favorite time of the week is 7:00 am Saturday morning, crank up the ERA, head to Starbucks for a coffee, and take off down a twisty back road while the sun is coming up over Biscayne Bay!! I do envy you however - the mountains!!!!!!!

I'm having trouble uploading pictures. I'll try again tomorrow. I thought I would immediately get the car repainted but the paint job is flawless and starting to grow on me…at least its original. The truck driver that dropped it off this morning was glad to see it wasn’t blue.
The car was built around 2000 by ERA to be used as a “promotional” vehicle and was raced by them a couple times. There is a picture of the car racing on their web site just a head of the 142 car. Around 2005 the car was sold to one of ERA’s employees. She and her husband are moving, so they were ready to part with the car, and I bought it from them. Since they only live a couple miles away from ERA in CT I thought it would be smart to have them drop the car off at ERA for a quick once over before having it delivered to NJ. |

That’s it!!!. The interior has been carpeted and the seats changed, but everything else looks exactly the same. Where on the ERA website did you find that link?
