My car, CSX3225, has a 180 mph reverse speedometer. I don't ever remember seeing a original 427 with regular direction speedometer.

I noticed a while back that some vintage/veteran bentleys had reverse speedometers and from time to time have noticed that some other early sports cars had reverse wind speedometers

Having seen a few of these I formed the opinion that the reverse wind speed in Cobras was a nod to early performance cars.

I think the format originated from early airspeed indicators and the connection may have suited those car builders - not sure about that tho...

Your photo doesn't show a reverse speedometer. It rotates clockwise, the needle just 'starts' at a different point.
