$150,000 ERA on eBAY - A Joke???

Has anybody seen the ERA 427 listed on eBAY by "National Vehicle Marketing"
for $150,000?????? I was wondering if they were serious or if they were smokin' something they shouldn't be smokin'. Authentic 4000 and 6000 series Shelby's are having trouble selling for $100,000, so I wondered what these guys were thinking (or smoking) ??????

RodKnock 10-29-2010 10:13 AM

You mean this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other...item35ad58a758

It's no reserve and the bidding starts at $75,000. So anyone who bids $75,000, will in all likelihood buy it.

SP01715 10-29-2010 11:28 AM

an "aggresive buy it now price of $125,000". Sales people can be ridiculous...
Good luck.

patrickt 10-29-2010 11:37 AM

It's a steal at either of those two prices. But for the fact that I'm a 427 man I couldn't get my checkbook out fast enough.

"I really don't want to sell it, but need showroom space for a new 1959 Jaguar XK150S!"

Very nice car, but the unadulterated sales hype is off-putting to me. Good luck getting $100,000+ for it.

FIA-ERA 10-29-2010 12:29 PM

I really love my car a bunch but holy schnikes that a lot of money! If I had that to spend I wouldn't be looking at that, I would be buying Allen English's RCR GT40 AND have money to throw at it to boot! If this guy sells this car for that, I need to sell mine to the same guy! I mean he needs a daily driver as to not mess this one up, right! I wonder what a Kirkham goes for compared to ERA (in this guys eyes?)??

I was thinking along the same lines. A very well thought out build and finished product. Just not a realistic price point. If anyone selling a car like that thinks it's worth it, then take it to Meccum or R&S or BJ and let the market make the call.

But the late 50's XKs are really gaining ground for investors, so I can understand why he is motivated to move to that (versus owning a replica that will, at best, go absolutely no where).

+1

I like an ERA just like the next person, but we could have had a aluminum 289 Kirkham two weeks ago for $60K. That was a "steal."

The seller has it priced to sit.

mrmustang 10-29-2010 01:24 PM

A far cry from the owners other automotive interests ;)

Bill S.

PS: yes, they are talking about the same owner as the ERA listed on Ebay

James Stern 10-29-2010 02:13 PM

Yah Bill, He probably wants $200K for the electric vehicle.

am9648 10-29-2010 02:30 PM

It's a no reserve auction, so who know what the final price may be. Could be a bargain for someone.

am

CoolCarl 10-29-2010 02:46 PM

Yea, no reserve but the starting bid is fixed at 75k. Like someone said earlier in the thread, the first person to bid 75k will win.

289Cobra 10-29-2010 10:40 PM

No, the one I'm referring to is at the top of the list with a BUY IT NOW price of $149,900. It's dark blue with white stripes.

RodKnock 10-29-2010 10:46 PM

How about posting a link?

I think he means this one:

kinda funny

cobrajeff 10-30-2010 04:20 AM

So, when did ERA move to "New Bridge, CT"? :JEKYLHYDE
I love my ERA, and to me, it's priceless, but, these guys
are obviously smokin' some really good stuff....
