Default A Very Special Event in SoCal

The rules of TSD and Monte Carlo Rallies can be pretty frustrating for most people. It took me years to get good at it. However, there is a very simple and VERY FUN rally coming up this Friday night (January 7). You get a sheet of turn by turn driving instructions and the location of 20 or more possible checkpoint locations. You drive along the course and try to reach each place on time. If there is a checkpoint there, you roll your front tires over the hose right on your minute. These are the MOST EXCITING type of events to run and they happen only on rare occasions. The weather for Friday night will be clear and the temps will be in the 60's and 50's, so we are running the Cobra topless. If you ever want to enjoy your car to it's fullest potential (without risking racing damage), this is the event for you.

I will add the event information below:

It’s the new year, so time for a new First Friday Niter! This Friday, January 7, come see what guest rallymaster Joe Akerman has written for you. It is a bit unusual in that it is an FFN version of an ITN rally. It will have instructions (driving directions) instead of ITN’s usual maps or standoffs. Included in those directions will be the locations and times for a number of Possible Checkpoint Locations (PCL’s). So, all you have to do is run the course until you find a staffed Checkpoint, then creep (or even stop, it’s allowed on this event only) until the time shown to cross the hose. The rally ends at Round Table Pizza at Sand and Soledad Canyons in Santa Clarita.

Usual time and place: registration opens at 7 pm, beginner meeting at 7:40 pm, first car out at 8:01 pm, B of A rear lot, Sepulveda and Devonshire, Mission Hills.

Read the FFN flyer and General Instructions at www.smscc.org or http://www.calclub.com/roadrally.php. You can also see pictures from previous FFNs and our other events in the Photo Gallery section of the Cal Club road rally website.

Specials: Zero Dollars: Contestants are awarded ‘Rally Bucks’ for getting zeroes – Class A gets 1 Rally Buck per zero, Classes B and C get 2 Rally Bucks per zero, and Class D gets 3 Rally Bucks per zero. Rally Bucks can be accumulated and used like cash for FFN entry fees.

Both driver and navigator must be SCCA members. If both are not, you can buy a weekend SCCA membership for $8 per car; if only one is not a member, it is $5. (Passengers do not have to be SCCA members.) Please contact us if you have any questions about this.

Minors: For a minor to participate, both parents must sign the SCCA Minor Waiver. Each parent's signature is only valid if the parent signs in the presence of the rally registrar or the parent's signature is notarized. You can download the SCCA Minor Waiver from: http://www.scca.com/documents/insura...inorwaiver.pdf
