I've had my Unique since 1998. It took 6 years to build, but was worth the wait. The Weavers have been great to deal with. I'd highly recommend the Unique product and the Weavers to anyone.

First off, my screen name, "wannacobrasoon", I can happly say is obsolete. Purchased a Unique from a guy near Atlanta about four months ago. I was told it was in purfect condition and after I fixed most everything I found wrong with it, I can happly report that it is in perfect condition. The origional owner was said to be about 6'4" and I'm 5'6". Moving those pedals up was quite a chore. The 406 big block built by Southern Automotove runs strong and the TKO 600 shifts effortlessly. Good lookin' car if I do say so myself. Entered it in a couple of car shows last fall and walked away with hardware in each. It's put away for the winter but am looking forwarding to hooking up with other Cobra Owners in the area when it thaws out a bit.

I'ts not a Cobra or even a Unique technically , but Alan Weaver hand built my GTD40, one of two total built at the Unique shops. I think mine is the second one. The craftsmanship is better than some real GT40s that I've seen. Check out my gallery for a lot more pics. Thanks Alan!

Default Unique #1

Here's Mom & Dad's Unique 427 SC, 9 1/2 years old, assembled by Dad, my brother, and me. Originally built with a bone-stock '92 Mustang long block converted to carburetion, it's now running a 383 Windsor stroker built by my brother.

Default Unique #2

And here's our Unique 289 FIA car. Found it here on Club Cobra 5 years ago next month. Since then, have switched from FI to carb, generally worked the engine bay over to look more period-correct, narrowed the rear, shed the sidepipes, and some other odds & ends.

(And posting these pics has made me realize I need to shoot some much better ones!)

This was my FIA which I built in 2000. Sold it a few years ago and I can truly say that of all the cars that I have built and sold over the years, this is the one that I miss the most.

I understand the car is now in Houston. I recently spoke to Alan Weaver about the car and he said that the current owner called him looking for info on the car. If you are the current owner and would like some info, contact me through this thread and I will be glad to tell you what I can.

Default Well made in the USA

You will not go wrong with the Unique. As for comparing it to other manufacturers, try comparing them with like companies. Unique is carefully made one at a time by the Weavers and not in a huge production line. Some people like that others want to build their own. Your choice either way.

No issues at all if broken in properly. Then keep the oil changed as recommended. One of the good things on the Jag rear is it and the disc brakes were built for a 4000 pound car.... with the Cobra's at ~2400 pounds... the rear should be a "none issue".

Whiter,

The Jag Unit that Unique uses is rebuilt by either them or Southern Gear, one of their dealers. Alan and Maurice will spec the rear-end to your suited needs. They built the rear end for my car with a locker and a 3:31 gear ratio as requested. Most of the time I run around on Drag Radials and have never had a problem with the rear end. That said, I do not abuse the IRS by revving the motor up and dumping the clutch. If I get on it from a stand still, I do an off idle start.

As Juan said, Unique builds a very good car, here in America. If you go to their shop you will meet them and their skilled craftsman that work for them.

Justin
