Default Some Jag Rear Questions....

I've spent way too much time today, scouring the internet and calling people...all to no avail. I should have asked here first...

I have an empty 4HU case, getting ready to stuff it with new Dana 44 parts. I need the stub axle assemblies to go in the case. I see that there are two different styles, one is a 2 bearing assembly, the other a 3 bearing. Apparently there are two different lengths of stub axles too.

My questions are:

1. Will either stub axle assembly work in a 4HU case? Or do I need a specific one.

2. If either will work, which would be best for a Cobra? I'm thinking the one with 3 bearings would be more stable, but I think it's also the longer one and I don't know how it would affect the half shaft length/u-joint stir.

Any answers or info?

Brent,

Did you happen to talk to this guy? I heard he's good.

Default the one you need!

Try this one, Butch Capps, Mid South Gear Specialist, Knoxville, TN. Butch does the rebuilds for Unique Motorcars. He does excellent work, has all of the parts, and the rear ends come back with all the correct paint markings coded to the internals and tagged the way they left the factory, and it looks like he not to far from you.

They came highly recommended from a "real wrench" here on CC. Sorry, only trying to be helpful.

Maybe contact these guys on eBay and see what they have to say. Should have the parts you need.

I know you were, Rod, and I appreciate it. I must have got the wrong sales guy on the line.

I will call Mr. Capps tomorrow.

I got the stub axles for the 2 Kirkham diffentials I bought from Coventry West. I wasn't sure what style axles I needed, so I talked to the sales guy there and he led me to the right axles.
I believe they also have assembly drawings on their site also so you can see how it all assembles.

They are located in Lithonia, Georgia.

Brent... as mentioned abouve, Butch Capps is the guy. I've called him several times. He was very free with his knowledge and spent the time to answer my questions and helped me understand..... actually, he's much like you with your engine and drive train knowledge (and "all" the time you spend with me)!!
