This is exactly how I feel about car shows. I have friends that have tried to talk me into it, and they just don't do anything for me.

I've never 'shown' mine although we sometimes go to drive-in type shows. When we do I like to park it and then go look at other cars. Because, you know, I've seen mine before. I don't even like to sit by it because then I have to watch people look at it and they ask me stuff and it gets old.
I built it to drive, I live on a dirt road and this is AZ...it's dusty here. The day I worried about wiping down every last inch of the motor and picking all the gravel out of the carpet will be the day I sell it...literally, because that's the only reason I could see for doing all that very un-fun crap.

A car show normal has an entrance fee of $15-$25 and, yes if you win a trophy you paid for it in advance. The car show is usually an all day adventure sitting in the hot sun waiting for that trophy you might or might not win. If the car show is sponsored by the local Corvette club all the trophies will be given out to the Corvettes long before they get to the Cobras clean or in patina. The Cruise-In is normally a short term gathering where car enthusiasts gather and BS and you can leave any time you want. During our snowbird season here in Florida I can take you to a Car Show or Cruise-In each and every day of the week within an hours drive from my house. On Saturday and Sunday you will have multiple shows to pick from to attend. I have attended both but really like a Cruise-In better but most of the time I leave my car at home and take my camera, take my pictures and leave any time I feel like I have had enough car show.

I totally agree with Maricopa. I live at the end of a gravel road and while I try to keep my car as clean and nice as I can... I have it to drive, not to constantly wax and shine and fuss over. Cruise-ins are fun and seeing other cars and friends is the reason I go, as far as shows I have absolutely no interest in sitting by my car in a parking lot waiting to get judged for something that doesn't matter to me.

For me, I think participating in a car show is more about the fellowship with other car enthusiasts then getting a trophy. I agree that sitting around your car all day is a drag. Meeting new people and getting away for the afternoon is why I go to shows. I much rather spend the day at the track...

About 10 years ago I bought a wannabe Cobra made locally here in Indonesia by a guy that had a couple of small photos. He made four, 3 still on the road. They sure aren't accurate and mine has a Aussie GM Holden in line six and an auto and no top. My kids and I rewired it, learned how to fiberglass, changed bits and pieces and a heap of other things. We drive it all over, lots of strangers have had a sit in it, people all over give us thumbs up and we seldom wash it or polish it. I have friends who have big buck cars of the Italian kind and they won't let any one touch it, near it or breathe on it. They spend all their time worrying about a nick or a scratch or the paint fading in the sun. We have a heap more fun than they do. The dog sits inside with the kids and they pretend they are driving and going on adventures (no keys in sight) and now we have a Hurricane replica about 50% finished and its going to be the same way. Fun and driven and enjoyed. Its a car, so we get out and use 'em. If you want to spend your time polishing and sitting making vroom noises, that's up to you...either way, there's plenty of room for both of us, you'll have more room at the shows for parking and I'll have more room on the road. We can all be happy.

I can't find the picture to upload right now, but there is one floating around of Johnny Mac kissing me on the starting grid of the SAAC Vintage race at VIR,that's where the comment about Johnny liking men came from, you can thank Ron (Computerworks) for that picture.....

David,
Fixed it for you
Bill S.
PS: Even with JM like the picture above, I'd most likely let him drive my car...Why, simple, I've seen him on the track and would trust him with my life if need be.....yes, even if all liquored up

That leaning thing is all of it. You are leaning.
That's okay though, I got the bare leg shot posted by HCL and got crap for it a long time.
Dang...you really are leaning. Video camera? You sure? I am not sure I have seen a video camera case that looks like a purse.
