Ok Bryan, I've been keeping up with the eCobra on EVTV.me and watched you come and pick it up. Can you give us any updates on the build?
Please tell us your not gonna put the low resistance skinny tires on it! I'd like to know the costs associated with the electrical system. If I understood him right, it costs about $1 an amp hour and it had 111 180 AmpH cells! That comes to $19,980 + $400 for shipping! just for the batteries?! |

O.K a little update,the electric Cobra is Back at B&B we are starting the final assy, paint interior, I have been driving the wheels off this car the last week before tearing it down, the car Is awsome I now have the 0 to 60 time down to 4 secounds so far i have hit a top speed of 138 and this was in third gear I have no Idea what the top end will be on this car, the motor has a red line of 10k and i was at about 5k at 138 the range really varies I have been driving the car with the big 295 50 15 rear tires and the front 235 60 15 and i have been pushing it hard and i am at about 100 mile range if I put the smaller energy savers on the car and drive it normal i am about 150 miles I have two more we are building, round tube frame, carbon fiber body, many alum parts I am trying to take another 500lbs off the next two, this should increase the range by about 50 miles and help the handling. I have my web guy starting to post pictures on our website *B&B Manufacturing - :::: - Feel the Thunder - :::: - Hotrods from Kit to Turn Key - :::: I hope to have them up in a few days, also I have been taking video's here at the shop all week and putting them on CD'S so please call laurie at 417 472-3547 and I will have her mail out copies to anyone that wants to have one.

Somebody had an all-aluminum bodied electric Cobra out a year or two ago (might have been a Shelby or Kirkham). It was on TV, but I can't remember the show. It was filled with batteries and made absolutely no noise at all (but it was fast). So popular was it that it was taken apart (batteries and electric motor) and sold on ebay. Best to do it with a Miata or something of that sort. Real (or fake) Cobras make noise and have smelly exhaust.

It's all in the gearing. Electric motors are not like internal combustion engines. Apples and oranges.

Is the motor AC or DC? Typical industrial motors base speed is usually 3600 rpm or less. Im real curious what type of motor it is that will turn 10K rpm. Rick |

this is a DC motor 11 HV it is called, a brand new Motor from Netgain motors they have been selling 11" motors for the electric cars for years but now this is their new Baby the High Volt version.

we have been playing around with the rear ratio we started with a 2.75 we are now playing with a 3.80 yes they are open gear, could not get the limited slip to work with the electric drive train, the clutch's would not lock up, so we have gone back to the open and it works great. as for cost on the battery set-up this car is way up their 48,000 for everything this will drop once I get the weight of the car down a little more so we can back off on the batteries, this car is what the customer wanted so it has 138 cells in it, with the weight drop the battery cost will go down.

So can i put one of these electric motors in the chassis you sold me.. agreed to take back and then stiffed me on?? Keep your word Bryan... man up

Richard, this electric set-up would be great for your car, I am building one for myself right now, the only problem is this is pretty tricky work on this electric conversion, and you can't figure out how to mount the body to the chassis? If you would ship me back your kit I will mount the body on your chassis for you at no cost and then If you would like me to I could start putting the electric parts in for you as well, this I would charge you shop rate of 45 per hour.
