I have a electrical horn gremlin I think?

purchase my COBRA with 3000 miles. Notice when going through the car that the horns were disconnected the horns switch was also disconnected so I reconnected them two months ago they have been working fine until the other day when traveling down the road all the sudden both horns started wailing. Tried turning off the ignition didn't help, tried pulling the wires off the horned button didn't help I had to pull the wires off the horns themselves both of them to stop the madness.

I even tried now taking the horn relay out and if I plug either one of the horns in they start welling.

I'm presuming now it must be some short causing this any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

lol  im sorry, i know its aggrevating but thats funny, i can just picture it. sounds like something that would happen to me:LOL: It does not get much simpler than a horn, i would just rewire it.

Wiring

If your horns still blow with the relay removed, you have a wiring issue. Either something is shorted out or is mis-wired.

If the horns only blare when you plug the relay back in, try a different relay, it may be welded closed. If that doesn't do it, back to step one - wiring issue.

Good luck chasing it. It will probably require unwrapping the harness and tracing wires since you don't know if someone may have spliced in something in the middle

Good luck

Paul

Assuming there is no problem with the horn button sticking...And I don't know if BDR's use a horn relay...

It sounds like an internal short in one horn. Once again, I have no BDR wiring diagram for reference (does one exist?) but usually the horn button closes a ground connection to the horns thus activating them. (Horns usually have a full time HOT active wire feed) If one horn internally shorts out, both horns will sound. You can try disconnecting one at a time to see which one is shorted, but new horns don't cost much and are a great improvement over the originals. You could have a wiring problem that would activate the horns, but start with the easy stuff. R&R the horns. New horns usually come with a relay with the package.
