Why Does My Cobra Love Tissue Paper?

Because tissue paper is positively the best leak paper I've found. Much better than paper towels, and better than the high quality white paper dinner napkins that I've used in the past. Now I'm not talking toilet paper, or Kleenex, but rather that nice high-quality tissue paper that your wife wraps presents in. Right now I have an ever-so-slight fluid leak (one drop a week) from one of the nine fitting points of my black reservoirs -- not sure which one, but it tracks down the lines to make you think it's coming from somewhere else. It's actually done that for years, off and on. Even a pin-drop's worth of brake fluid shows up really well on light blue tissue paper. I also have a hint of an oil leak (not even half a dime-sized drop) from my FE. It's from the bead along the back of the intake manifold. I had eliminated it a couple of years ago with a finger tip's worth of black RTV at the right spot, but that seems to have come loose, so I'm replacing it with the ultra-grey. Again, tissue paper shows even the tiniest bit of oil. Anyway, here's a couple of shots, for lack of anything better to do:

It's been so slow around here lately that I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. But, deep down, Chas loves me -- he really does.;)

If you COMPLETELY run out of things to do, you could go drive the car.

I did take her for a long drive yesterday. With fingers crossed, and hoping this doesn't jinx her, she is running in the best condition right now that she's ever been in. Sooooo, with no real tasks on the clipboard, I thought I'd find some. And tissue paper is a wonderful leak detector.

Does it leave dingleberries?

when I was building motorcycles, I use to use "powder fresh" air freshener. Spray it on, go for a quick spin and any leaks show up.

hose it off and fix your leak

I think you meant the Lord of the Rings Forum. I frequent the Harry Potter Forum and they don't get many "oyster bar" types.

I'm concerned that Chas. may be under the weather.%/ He's let this thread slip by and, notably, this post of mine at the tale of the ERA update thread: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/era-...ml#post1131748
