Chas, et al...
Guys...over the years, Brent has tried different things out on this site and the sibling sites (for assample, we used to have a chess game!)...sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
The thing I most appreciate is Brent's willingness to explore new ideas...some sites I frequent are stagnant and outdated. One thing I'm sure of because he stresses it with Ron and myself is the need to keep this place safe, so I don't stay up nights thinking Brent would introduce something that would endanger the site or its members systems.
Yes...it's a new thing, but the sky ain't falling. Calm down...Brent's just seeing what'll it'll do over a period of time. Since we start forums for just about everything (car modeling for chrissake!), rest assured that if it does become anywhere near a permanent feature...we'll have a nice little place for it.
Have a good one.

If Put to a Vote...
... I say "Keep It." I particularly like the FE Stuff on Ebay feed FE Stuff on Ebay Very convenient. If there was a way to add threads to the "ignore list," so that they became completely invisible, that might just possibly shut Chas. up... maybe. Although if it were me, I wouldn't put a lot of effort in to trying.

Well thanks Jamo. That's an administrative answer that's not patronizing or "Shut up and sit down". I asked in a polite way and, though Brent didn't explain it, I now have an idea that this may not be a 'brave new world'.
To my knowledge, none of us clamored for it and a word of preamble might have averted the (or my) fear and loathing. You know us stone-age resistors to change...
If I'm the only asshole that feared the loss of the 'Club' atmosphere, then guilty as charged.
Thanks for a straight shot. Are you getting mellow in your ol' age?

FYI, This is Brent's reply over on CHR about this same subject,
Hey sorry guys...I turned it off for now. I had meant to just pull stuff in once in a while so people could see stuff that's out there...thought I could make it just update the thread with new stuff and not repost making it show up all the time. Sorry.

Thanks Terry.
If that was posted here, I would not have started this thread.

I am OK as is.......
An alternative for consideration is to create a Forum which is titled E-bay Search with specific sub headings or some appropriate heading, that would not allow CC member updates, just the automated posting/robo-posts. CC members would have the option to view or not view, might be placed within the General Discussion group.
I like the concept of adapting CC to the current and future needs.
Another aide might be to scrutinize and post proposed and adopted Legislative changes that impact the Hobbyist, especially for kit cars. In CT, the CT Council of Car Clubs actively monitors proposed DMV regulations impacting the hobbyist, for the 2011 session just concluded there were 32 proposed Bills. Allows for direct participation via Testimony prior to implementation, there have been successes. I see the area of monitoring proposed/enacted legislative changes as growing in importance.

I am all for having that forum from e-bay on here, but give us the option to block forums that you want. Or let us set up our favorite forums (as an option) so when we hit the "NEW POST" button, we only see what we want as far as forums go.
Really no issue here. If I don't want to read a particular thread I just don't click on it anyway. I do that to probably 90% of them anyhow. Then when there is a bunch of threads that I have not read, I just click the "MARK FORUMS READ" feature and start all over again.

A final thought about adding blocking features: Think back to when we turned 10-13 years of age, and we all discovered what joy it was to play with our little partner in crime.
Somehow we developed into civilized creatures with the ability to use our discretion as to when and where we would unzip the little fella and have at it.
Might I suggest that the same level of discretion might prevent one from opening a thread once one discovers it is not to their liking.
...just sayin.
