Don't know what it is, but it has the most unique wheels I have ever seen on a Cobra. Not sure why anyone would go with those.

Johnex uses CSC Racing chassis for its Cobra kits. Could be one of those.

Johnex has come and gone as a company at least three times, but I think they kept the same body molds and I know they all use the same chassis.

Sellers say lots of things. But these are fast -- and potentially very dangerous -- cars. Be sure to check it over thoroughly.

That's a very tough question to answer.

I've been tracking Superformance Cobra prices for about two years now, and in Canada the average asking price is between $70-75K. I imagine transaction prices are a bit lower. Now this is on a product that is very standardized and commands some of the strongest prices in Canada.

On the other hand, most Johnex cars are home built and the components and build quality can vary widely as a result. Asking prices for all home-built Cobras vary widely too.

In Ontario home-built Cobra kits are virtually uninsurable except through high-cost Facility Association (~$2500-3000/yr). What is the situation in Newfoundland?

I looked at a Johnex before buying my SPF. It was very nicely built by an experienced guy at home. But it wasn't as nice as an SPF. The seller wanted high $50Ks for it, but there was no way I was gonna pay that much for it. At mid $30Ks to $40K, maybe.

So ask yourself: How much is this car worth to me? It might not be worth that much to the next guy, but if you're happy with it...

40-50? I'd say more in the range of $30-35k if it's in good running order & overall condition. No Big Block, No Pin Drives, No Customer Service when you have a question or problem.

I agree with Hyde. More like the low 30's. Keep in mind, most people will claim more value for a trade then they would be able to get in a straight sale. You both may be guilty of this in this case. However, if your muscle car is really worth that price (muscle cars are much easier to value), then I might suggest you sell it, then buy his car with cash and save 10 to 15k.
