After I split my head open, I jammed a couple of pieces of misc. styrofoam on the jacks. I still hit them, but it felt much better!

I smashed my shin a few months back on mine. Bled like crazy for a while. Took weeks to heel. I've had mine for less than a year so at this rate it's gonna be 1 major shin gash every year.

I think I'll be doing the same as you when I get around to it.

Be sure to hang some "Remove Before Flight" streamers on the styrofoam blocks, and paint them orange.

I whacked myself several times over the first two years I had my car. Looking closely, I noticed that they were entirely cosmetic and not strong enough to use for actually jacking up my car. Further, I wouldn't have used them as jacks even if they had been functional. So, when I took the car apart for a complete redo a few years ago, the quick jacks came off and went into a box and the holes were filled. I now run with a little less weight, a little less drag and a little less cursing in the garage.
