Default 48 IDA Webers - where to start with idle mixture ?

Hi guys,

I want to reset idle mixture of my 48 IDA webers on my FE390 (stroked to 445). First I want to Close all idle mixture screws to Zero and from this closed Point 1 1/2 turns left back open..... Is that ok ?

Best,

Stephan

In theory if you have the correct fuel AND air holder is should not require more than 3/4 - 7/8 of a turn open. Fuel jet about .65-.70 air at about 1.10, that will be very close.

What jets and idle jet holder are you using?
I had ida's on a 435ci FE with 65 jets and 120 idle jet holders and that worked really well.

Jon,
My engine has 70 jets and 80 idle jet holders....what would be the difference if I change to 120 holders ?

Main jets are 175 on my 390 FE stroked to 445 cui.

When I bought my cobra from a cc member, he told me the the jetting was done from Jim Inglese ans dynoed by Dennis Olthoff....

What do you think of the jetting...?

Stephan

That combo was to rich for me, also depends on which cam you have. Jim likes that combo and you should try it! As for mixture screws, set them at 7/8 out and start there.....
1)after it starts set the timing
2)Before you can tune her you must sync the carbs or it will never run.... Never run correctly. The motor must also be at operating temp to tune,
Thats where i would start,
Jon
