You gents are surely only being half serious.... No?

While I like cobras of all sorts, & I even like the street cobra, surely the SC stands ahead and alone...

If it's a street cobra you want then why not the 289 slabside?

The street big block for mine would come last of the cobra options.%/
Sorry if I'm raining on your parade.
:o

best wishes & good luck with your rides

My MK-II FFR-based version.

The new MK-IVs would be a much better starting point with the re-worked trunk, rear fenders and scoopless hood.

For me the factor that says "street" is the hoop bumpers. The quick jacks say "Comp model", the over rides without the hoop bumpers say "S/C model", and the hoop bumpers say "Street model".

Here are a few photos of mine at a recent car show (I was not showing my car, but they had me park mine in the show area for some reason):

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...s/101_3432.jpg

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...s/101_3433.jpg

I consider my car to be in street trim b/c of the hoop bumpers.

I bought the car already assembled, registered and with slightly over 3,000 miles on the odometer...if I were doing it for myself, I'd eliminate the sidepipes in favor of under car exhaust, or at least the 289 style sidepipes, and I would PERHAPS eliminate the roll hoop (not sure about that, I kind of like the protection, especially on the street where you can't control the actions of others). I like the hood scoop (wish mine were an inch taller), would have it on ANY form of Cobra I were to build, it's just iconic to me.

Cheers!

Dugly

Its been said that not all replicas look good naked. Removing the sidepipes and roll bar really exposes the lines and stance to scrutiny. Beauty however is totally subjective and I have seen some well very executed examples from a variety of manufacturers. I know the top car is a high dollar restoration so I suspect it's closest to original.

Let's see some pics of yours or your favorite 427/428 street roadsters.

OK - for comments - which tail pipe treatment is best liked 1) tail pipes nearly flat 2) tail pipes slanting up at the tip???? I've already discarded the tail pipes slanting down at the tip option.

Buzz 10-27-2011 05:51 PM

I have to say I like the pipes on CSX3357 in the first pic.

Maybe, but I if I build another one I'd be more likely to do a 289 slabside.

Love the look of those.

:LOL::LOL:

I've said this before, and I'll say it again...

We put the steering wheel on the CORRECT side... which as you'll admit is also known as the RIGHT side.

Even American dictionaries & thesauruses define "RIGHT" to be "CORRECT".

Now as for driving on the other side of the road...?
Yep... That's another story, and we are guilty as charged your honour :o

I agree. I also like the lack of chrome tips. Those pipes looks the best IMHO.

JBCOBRA 10-28-2011 09:00 AM

On the SPF cars, the pipes are polished stainless. I painted most of the pipe to tone them down a notch.

my427cobra 10-29-2011 05:42 PM

Love the shiney Sunburst wheels on the blue 427Street Roadster that mreid’s pic showed at the Simeone Museum.

I wonder if they were polished or something like PermaStar Chrome coated?

Does anybody know whose car that was so I could contact him to find out?

Thanks
Greg

If I had it to do over again, I'd go street version all the way. Hmm...wonder how much it would cost to convert to under car exhaust?

snakeski 10-30-2011 09:36 AM

I have one of each!! Up here in the northeast, the street car with its hard top gets out A LOT more then the 427!! With its heat and the rear exhaust, makes for a great weekender. The first time we took it out for a long day, the wife fell asleep in it!!! Very enjoyable car to drve/ride!!!

Tin-man,

Thank you very much.

The pro shoot was done by students at the Savannah College of Art and Design. They asked me if they could borrow the car for the shoot. They offered to pay for my expenses (gas and cleaning the car). I told them they were welcome to the car, I wanted no money, but I wanted examples of their work. Thirteen of the students took turns taking pictures in the studio. They did great work.

Jack
