First Signs of Cobra Hibernation
 
It is sad to say but I believe Cobras will be going to sleep for the winter very soon here in the North East.

Woke up this morning to over an inch of snow and some roads have been salted. Kinda bummed. I believe I had a few more miles I would have liked to log...

Yep, she'll be going in to the ol' bag very soon. I had her out earlier this week when it was in the mid 50's. But it was overcast and windy. I really don't like to take her out unless it's at least in the 60's, but if the sun is bright and there is no wind, high 50's will do.

Anything above 40 and I will continue to drive her. Just put the tonneau cover over the passenger side, crank the heater up to high, coat, knit cap and some ear covers.

We had over a foot of snow this week. Lots of sand on the roads. The major highway seems OK so I will probably take the GT out when it comes tomorrow but that will likely be the end of it until spring.

Winter is here early.
It got down to the low 50's last night.
There might be a long sleeved t-shirt drive this Sunday afternoon. At about 70 degrees my thin skin gets chilly. ;)
Brrrrrrrr!!

BTW, Patrick, do you at least have a nitrogen flush on your Cobra bag?

I say if the sun is out and the roads are dry, anything above freezing is good!
But I'm usually alone if it's below 55 deg! :rolleyes:

You Northern guys are putting them away, us Southern guys are just getting them out. :D It's been TOO hot until now, but today it was in the low 80's.. Turkey Rod Run is coming up..need to replace the carpet..

The weekend forecast in Ottawa is cloudy and cold, with daytime highs of only 44-46F (7-8C). But the probability of precipitation is only 20-30%, so I'm sure to have the Cobra out for some late Fall cruising.

To stay warm I just put on my ski jacket, a toque and some gloves. Maybe even some long undies.

At this time of year I always fill up the tank just before bringing the car home, 'cuz you never know when it'll be the last time out for the year.

OK, don't laugh... I seriously considered doing just that. In fact, last year I tried to evacuate the air inside the bag. I remembered, as a kid, that at one time or another we had a "Seal-A-Meal" thing that was of the quality of a "Pocket Fisherman" or "Rhinestone and Stud Setter." It worked a couple of times before it broke, I think. Anyway, I put the Cobra in her bag and then got my shop vac out and tried to suck the air out of the bag just like Ron Popeil did with the Seal-A-Meal bag and the stinky fish. Well, it didn't work and, frankly, I looked pretty dumb even to myself. So, I gave up. BUT, had it even half way worked, I was then going to fill the bag up with nitrogen, vac it out again, fill it back up, vac it out again, and then I would feel quite good about myself keeping her in a nitrogen filled bag over the winter. :LOL:

Sunny and 70F this weekend in Houston, Cobra season has arrived. After 30 days of 100 plus heat this past summer, it will be a great one!!!!!

Now ERAChas told me that if I zip up the bag after sundown that it will capture more nitrogen in the bag, since it's night time. Now I'm not sure about that, but Chas is usually right about these things....:cool:

Have you ever considered using the wraping plastic? The same stuff they use to wrap motors for shipment. This winter is my first one using the radiant heat system in the floor of my garage. It was 63.9 in there at 37% humidity. I have driven my car during the winter as long as it was clear and the roads dry. Think you get people staring at you in warm weather???:eek:

Seems my deer hunting is getting in the way of driving. The rut is about to kick in and 32 in the morning with 55 for a high means deer running around in LOVE. I still will get it out before winter I am sure.
