Uhhh, remember that there is a very wide spectrum of "normalcy." I have at least seven toes squarely in that zone.

I see jeffy that you have an Inglese system. This week I placed a deposit with Jim for an eight stack system intended for 454 chevy. This engine will be for another boat. Different boat than previous images. This will be my first weber system, but looking forward to something new and different.

Well, that should be fun!

Enjoy!

Very nice!
I just think chrome or SS jack pads would be better on this particualr car.

I would very much like to talk with you more on that tow point application. Great idea!!!
Do you want to share details on the measurements , etc

alkire248 03-28-2012 04:37 PM

I will make some measurements and take some up-close pictures. This little attachment was cobbled up from some scrap pieces of angle and flat plate aluminum laying around the shop. An application of powder coating makes it look legitimate, but realize I have never actually used it to tow the car!

alkire248 03-28-2012 04:40 PM

Also, DONS427 comment about chrome jackplates looking better is correct. I had never thought of that until he noted as such.

Kramer 03-28-2012 04:52 PM

Many thanks .... Amazing what u find here .... I should have thought of that a long time ago ....if u want PM when u can.

kevins2 03-28-2012 05:25 PM

Very nicely done and looks nice. That said, it looks like it bolts on easily so an option might be to keep it in the trunk and bolt it on if needed.

Regards,

Kevin

Not a bad suggestion, but every time I break down its night, raining, cold, and I have inadvertantly left all tools at home.

ERA649 03-28-2012 07:03 PM

Nice car, what is that tow hook bolted to ?

Curt Presley 03-28-2012 07:20 PM

Very Nice!!

I always forget how intimidating the ERA 427 bodyshape is. Very nice looking Cobra!

REAL 1 03-31-2012 08:21 AM

Love ERAs and that one is one of the nicest I've seen.

That tow hook is great idea. Wonder if something could be fashioned for a CSX?

You know, I feel sure you could pull both ERAs and CSXs up on a flatbed via a tow strap wrapped around the quick jacks, and do so without damaging anything. The trick is just making sure you don't drag your snout going up. But the last time I broke down I drove it up on the flatbed with the starter motor and it didn't drag.

That is one SWEET ride. Well done man. Love the meatballs and single roll bar. I've had struts on my hood for 11 years now and has never tweeked the hood. Is the black firewall shroud for HVAC?

alkire248 03-31-2012 07:10 PM

No, just thin aluminum sheet, matte black spray paint.

ratsnst1 03-31-2012 09:17 PM

nice car

I like your car very much, great job, I have the gas struts for my hood and trunk, it looks and works very well , I see you like bb chevys too, I have a stroker bb chevy in my cobra, I love it.

Great looking car and boat. To take a fine car like an ERA and then apply the tweaks u have done must very rewarding. Well done

macloft, thank you for the kind compliments. Working on the cobra and boats is actually more technically demanding than open heart. But also, working in the shop is more rewarding and a heck of a lot more fun.
