Here are a few pics of ERA 774. Enjoy.

Replaced the single side support and found this pair of gas struts (stainless steel) look and work great.

Here's the firewall cover.. Looks prominent in the picture, but really quite unobtrusive. Held in place by 3 screws on top.

Here's the front with struts also. Stainless steel, I think these were 19 lbs each. Work really great.

ERA probably won't approve of this, but everything I build breaks down and I need a tow point.

Here's another picture of that tow point. 0.25 in. aluminum powder coated.

I had originally intended to cover windshield wiper motor as well, but instead, painted wiper motor and left exposed.

This is off-topic, but here's a couple pictures of a project that occupies most of my off time. I have had this flattie V-drive since 1972. I recommend one of these if you have room in the garage next to the cobra. Cobra projects would allow significant transfer of skills.

Could you post the gas strut part numbers you used for hood and trunk lids?

Struts available at Lift Support Technologies Gas Springs - Custom to Spring Lift. Click on 'gas springs' and go to online catalog page 8 with hood part number GSSK 18610. For trunk lid I think GSSK 18510 is correct.
19 lbs per strut for hood, and 13 lbs per strut for trunk. They also have multiple mount brackets that are applicable to numerous situations.

If your hood and/or trunk distort because of the constant stress from the pneumatic props, you're on your own...
I'm not saying it will definitely happen, but we chose mechanical props for a reason.

Compression force reasonably light, just enough for support when extended. The thing I like is that hood and trunk lid are 'level' when open. My car from ERA had single side support arms that resulted in non-support side sag ( about an inch or so, but definitely disturbing to those afflicted with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ). Unfortunately, congenital for me, but I do pay attention to the details. Old term is perfectionist, but as a cardiac surgeon my patients appreciate it.

As a psychiatrist, I can tell you that a large gulf exists between being perfectionistic and having obsessive-compulsive disorder. The two terms are not interchangeable. I understand your point, though, but extra knowledge can often be helpful.

I see jeffy that you have an Inglese system. This week I placed a deposit with Jim for an eight stack system intended for 454 chevy. This engine will be for another boat. Different boat than previous images. This will be my first weber system, but looking forward to something new and different.
