Dragonsnake tops Mecum’s Kissimmee sale at $850,000

" Tell us if this sounds familiar: The top seller at Mecum’s Kissimmee sale this past weekend was the 1963 Shelby Cobra Dragonsnake originally piloted by drag racing legend Bruce Larson. "

Yeah, but CSX2093 isn't really a Dragon Snake though...

Still a testement to Cobras and their continued desireability and collectibility by virtue of fact that Cobras are still selling at strong numbers even in this difficult economy.

Could it be?
It's been a bit boring around here lately.
Glad to see you're wondering these parts.

Mecum's description:

" CSX 2093 was the 93rd Cobra built and is one of only eight cars modified with the Shelby-developed Dragonsnake package designed to maximize drag racing performance. Depending on options, the package could swell the bottom line to a whopping $8,990, a huge sum in 1960s-era dollars. "

Mecum, Hemmings and others are taking a bit of editorial license when it comes to that description.

CSX2093 was produced as a street car and was modified for drag racing by the owner with parts from Shelby American.

There were a total of six real Dragon Snake Cobras produced by Shelby American, including one 260, four 289s and one 427. Two were raced by Shelby and four were independently campaigned customer cars.

Factory team cars

* CSX2019
* CSX2357

Factory-prepared customer cars

* CSX2248 "El Cid"
* CSX2427
* CSX2472
* CSX3198 "Harr Ford"
