Dimis.....kinda threw me for a loop too brother.

347, if it's not out of adjustment, then it's probably time for a replacement.

347stroker 02-16-2012 06:49 PM

Engine is rated by builder at 420 hp but I havent had it on a dyno so I don't know the true output. A little overkill wouldn't hurt.

347stroker 02-16-2012 06:50 PM

You have a shop?

blykins 02-16-2012 06:57 PM

Yes sir, I'm an engine builder.

B2 Motorsports LLC

RAM has their HDX series that's rated at 450hp. Organic disc, no fuss, no muss. I would go with that one.

I would check the adjustment first though. No use in replacing a clutch if it's slipping because of too much bearing preload.

347stroker 02-16-2012 07:00 PM

Thanks will check that out and let you know. I do get to Louisville occasionally, usually to Bluegrass Porsche.

blykins 02-16-2012 07:03 PM

Been there a couple of times myself... ;) Mainly to drool....hahaha

WHOA! WHOA!-Hold everything.
JB- I was NOT insulting you in any way-nor was Brent! I'm late getting back here so much has already transpired.
I was not referring to you or the situation at all and I deeply apologize for jumping in and causing a misunderstanding.
I was joking about an old situation - Patrick's (The Village Idiot I refer to) clutch purchase. Was wrong of me to insert that here and again-I apologize.
Please don't hold this against Brent who is nothing but the most helpful tech guy and vendor on this site.
Besides he's gonna be a Daddy soon and I didn't want him to lose a customer!:CRY::CRY:
Now I gotta tear my clutch out and buy one from him!
I fall on my sword...:(

You must be getting senile. I don't think I spent more than about $300 on my Centerforce DF clutch.%/

More like $745 IIRC. They're still dancing around the maypole at the factory over that one.

No, you're remembering my aluminum flywheel, which I overpaid for.

Avmaviator 02-17-2012 10:00 AM

I don't think JBCOBRA can read properly. I blame the public school system! ;)

patrickt 02-17-2012 10:07 AM

The Explanation...

No, the whole problem was that our beloved ERAChas was, sadly, undermedicated last evening. And, as a result, he mistakenly thought 1) that I was on the thread to begin with (which I wasn't), and 2) that the overpriced Centerforce aluminum flywheel that I bought years ago (and that has been the subject of many threads) was instead a dual friction Centerforce clutch system. I have no doubt that he searched our old threads, in vain of course, for some sort of previous post that he could hang his sorry hat on, but alas, 'twas not meant to be. But we still love him, we just have to get on his nurse better to make sure that he gets three pills at dinnertime instead of two.%/

Never waste a second thinking I would search for anything you wrote.

Well, for you, that's a complete admission of guilt. ;)

JBCOBRA 02-17-2012 12:37 PM

Thank you Chas for clearing things up.
How would I know the inside joke about the Village Idiot?
I have been around here a long time, but do not post very frequently.
I figured you were talking to me.....:o

No Worries

I think he was... and I think you should now kick his ass for it.:D Yeah, that's the ticket....

TimG427 02-17-2012 02:00 PM

Blykins, thank you for all of your great advice. I notice my clutch may be slipping in 4th gear with my foot all the way in it. I would certainly purchase from you after all your detailed information in this post. I have about 600 HP from a 468 Shelby block.

blykins 02-17-2012 02:25 PM

I think we were all a little uptight last night. My apologies as well.

Tim, I'd be glad to help you out when you decide to upgrade. At 600hp, there aren't that many choices floating around, but we can come up with something. :)
