A simple answer to a complex question.

CSX 2000 and 3000 cars are for the most part original Cobras made in the 1960s. The rest are modern replicas.

When evaluating a particular serial number among any of them, it is best to consult SAAC's Cobra Registry. There are many variations among them and way too many to list here.

To add a little to DougD's post, the CSX 2000 series cars are the original small block models and the CSX 3000 series cars are the original big block models. The other CSX series models are replicas of those original cars. Some of the replicas have fiberglass bodies and some have aluminum. That's the basics.

My notes on the subject are as follows:

The 2000 series chassis are the 1960’s original 260 & 289 leaf spring aluminum cars.
The 3000 series chassis are the 1960’s original coil spring 427 & 428 aluminum cars.
The 4000 & 6000 series chassis are the new Shelby 427 cars. *
The 1000 series chassis are the new aluminum Shelby 427's. **
The 7000 series chassis are the new FIA 289's.
The 8000 series chassis are the new 289 slab-sides.
The 9000 series chassis are the new Daytona’s.
(update)
*The remaining CSX4000 numbers are being assigned now to alum 427 replicas while CSX6000 are reserved for 'glas replicas.
**The CSX1000 series is assigned to alum cars built by various UK sources, not Kirkham.

"The 1000 series chassis are the new aluminum Shelby 427's."

Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!!!

Are the 1000 series the same as the balance of the 4000 series (427 S/C)only built in UK?
Where the 6 original daytona coupes also aluminum bodies?
Are the new 9000 series aluminum or fiberglass?
What do the Sheby 4000 series aluminum cars cost?
What about the 9000 series cost?
