Have wanted one since I saw a new one at the local Ford Dealer in North Toledo back in the early 60's. Bought my local made beater here in Jakarta in 2001 (one of four in Indonesia) then purchased my Hurricane kit in 2006, delivered in May of 2007. Still puttering around in the beater and still slogging around in the garage on HM 1081. 64 in May.

I had wanted one for years, at first glance it was "What the hell was that that just went by"? Then once I knew I wanted one bad, so at 51 I saved enough to get my first one and that was a shell valley. Almost one year later now and thinking about a superformance in my future!

Funny stories...I told my wife I was going to buy another Harley. She did'nt want me to ride agian, so she said why don't you buy that and pointed at a picture of a 427SC Cobra in my garage. I bought CSX4981 the next day. Told my friends first then her...she replied, I'm driving it. :) 50+

He was right

Had a phone call last year from my favorite uncle. He had been sick and said to me "Billy live your life, do what you want, enjoy it ". I got off the phone and told my wife what he had said. She said "why don't you go buy the car you have always wanted." Went out to Barrett Jackson and talked to Reg and Frank from BDR. Ordered the car (after I called the wife from the BDR parking lot and gave her one last chance). Car came in later last year. Was driving it last week on the way to Easter dinner, got a phone call and was told that my uncle had passed on" Ironic that I was in the car when it happened. Just back from his funeral where I told his family how he had impacted my life , especially the last one. ..I am 58....Bill

There is so much truth to that.

I have seen so many people save every dime for retirement and then not live to see it, or not be able to enjoy it when they do retire.

I work to balance it. I'm living my life now with things I can enjoy while I can. Will I be rich when I retire? No, but I will be comfortable and that works for me.

I turned 40, got laid off and decided that life was too short to live to work...That was 4 years ago

Wife decided that a Contemporary would make a great wedding gift. Months earlier I emailed her a link to the exact one telling her how perfect it was. At that time it was way more than I THOUGHT I wanted. She realized if you're going to do it, do it right. She decided better enjoy it now than when I'm old. I'm 28...so the 428FE in my Cobra is older than me

GaryT 12-11-2013 12:06 PM

48 with one on order, 20 years after recieving an assembly manual from ERA.
Better late than never.

lippy 12-11-2013 12:28 PM

48. My thinking is that it's better to do my "retirement project" now while my kids are young and I'm able to move, and enjoy it. Plus, with three kids, I may never get to retire anyway.

motordean 12-11-2013 02:47 PM

Wanted my first one at age 25, almost pulled the trigger at 32 but got cold feet last minute, finally got it over this past summer at age 40. Never been happier!
