Average Age - Take II (Poll)

This is the sequence of the thread Average Age from 1999

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...erage-age.html

Well, that thread went on now for 13 years and some guys still have their (or another) cobra.

The question here is how old were you when you first bought/build a Cobra?

My number is 50.

I wanted one since my early 20's but couldn't responsibly afford it till my 40's. I'm 52 now. Cheers.

Bought my Kirkham at 44, 46 now. A work in progress....

Built my first in 87 when I was 31. The guy who bought my house in 93 also bought the car.

53 years young, my wife was in hospital thinking she was having a heart attack, it was St Valentines Day and another of my birthdays was coming up fast. It was all the incentive I needed.

FWB 04-14-2012 06:52 PM

put an out of state plate on it and told the wife it was here for repairs, after 6 months she asked why the owner never calls and the car is still here.

and i'm still married........to the same woman...lol ..

We have one entry with 18-25 --

Just a reminder, the question is - how old were you when you first bought/build a Cobra? (not how young you feel when you drive it):LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

My first body off resto was a 68 Vette, liked it somewhat traded it for a 69 Vette with Tri power 427,plenty of power still not 100%happy.Then bought a 69 SS Chevelle did a body off on it and built a 454"with complete handling package loved that car. Finally was ready for our Cobra and bought the kit in 93, 45 yrs old, took 2 yrs to build, still as happy as the day I drove it out of the shop the first time. Will be 64 in a few months.

I've wanted to build one since my mid 20's. I just turned 33 in March and wish I had the means to make this happen earlier. At any rate, literally just getting back from a drive a few minutes ago, I'm doing my best to make up for lost time!

NFLDMNBB 04-16-2012 09:24 AM

I've wanted one since age 10. After many many Mustangs got the Cobra at age 55. Now I'm thinking I need a Kirkham 289 FIA Lemans.

34 years of age...purchased my Superformance at 33.

392cobra 04-16-2012 04:36 PM

According to the Poll results at this time, there are eight guys that are 2 days older than dirt.
Makes me feel better at 63.

Started collecting info in 1977. (Got a letter from Unique when they were in Phoenix.) Bought a roller NAF when I was 45. Another Midstates in 1992, then started a scratch build in 1994. STILL working on it! Maybe I'll finish it this year- I hope. Now 69 and hope my heirs don't have to finish it after I'm gone.

I think you meant to say the end of the long and winding road

brandx 04-16-2012 08:25 PM

got my cobra done about 2 years ago. I am 56 now. Its ok to be over the hill but not to far so you don't hit bottom.
