Mystery Barn find.
Maybe this is it..............
1963 Shelby Cobra 289 Roadster CSX 2121 for sale by Mecum Auction  |
No mystery, no barn-find.
Pretty complete history and lineage in the SAAC World Registry of Cobras. |
Is the thread opn again?
Bruce |
Is this the "my cousin who is administering an estate Cobra" car? If so sounds like it was a real car.
|
Don't think so. I believe that one was actually an MG Midget. At least that was the car in the picture that the OP posted on that thread.
|
I should double check, but I'm pretty sure the OP in that thread never posted any pics - let alone of an MG. I think someone else posted those sarcastically and some readers took it to be the actual car.

Barn find info 1965 Shelby CSx 2356
There was a lot of hooping and hollering about a maybe or maybe not barn find, and all the hush hush.....well it,s now at rm auctions....all dusty from 25 year old dust.....rm did not contact me ......I researched and made a call to an owner of a 1965 Shelby who steered me in the right direction to rm auctions, where I made contact to don rose........I kept the info hid because I didn't,t want every tire kicker calling me along with looks loos....and any low ballets.....any all the bs ' s etc....I decided to leave it up to the professionals at rm which I have been praised by many for making the best chose possible......the auction is tonite lot 118 to go about 8 pm..........it's been quite a ride and I'm thankful for rm auctions and don rose

Ok buzz, you are correct. I went and looked at the old thread and it was not the OP that posted the picture.
Joefvasquez, Were you the OP on the other thread? Different login name? If so, you come on here asking for information then state that you were keeping it quiet and not giving out any more information to the group that you were asking information of. I feel used:LOL:. Just kidding, Good luck with the sale. |
Lot 114, the competetion 427 CSX 3014 sold for $1,350,000
|
The 289 went for $720,000.
Not a bad price for a car most of us thought didn't exist. |
WOW!!!!! There are fully restored cars which are cheaper..... I did estimate about $500k. Id would of loved that car, pure genuine cobra untouched..
|
Mystery barn find that cousin spoke of was csx 2356
Went to rm auctions ,it wasn't a midget like the jokers said.......anyway.....it sold for $720,000

Barn find
No im not the person seeking info in the earlier posts....i know who he is though......but i didn't learn of this site until the day i signed up and saw his thread...........anyway i made one call to a guy selling a cobra on hemming motor news back in april of 2012 and asked for advice to best sell this car......i didn't want a bunch of tire kickers calling ......the man gave me the best advice possible and it was to not clean it and not to send out pics.......to keep it a secret until rm could unveil it........he was friends with don rose of rm auctions....mr rose promoted the james bond goldfinger car and toured with it for a year before it sold in england for over 4 mil......don flew out to see our cobra and we con signed to rm........if you watched the auction you will agree we made the best choice......avoided the looky loo;s...tire kickers and curious......also there was a great story with the car......one owner car......a lady owner and more........selling price $720,000.......i was there and i am the one who helped wife in selling this car.

Misinformed
There is always critics not happy with this or that.....everybody looks for perfection......many people that saw the car at the auction really liked it and it was the favorite of many....and of course there were those who nit picked it apart.....who probably couldn't afford a real one anyway......although the original owner changed some things it was more original than a restored one with replacement parts......it was looked over with a fine toothed comb and the bidders knew what they were getting......as far as bondo.....maybe in the persons glasses...........jealousy,jealousy is all i have to say
