Sidepipe mountings

Hello all,

I would like to rework the mountings of my sidepipes this winter . Therefor I want to make a fist benchmark of your experiences.

How does your mounting looks like ? Do you use silent blocks and were ? Have you had problems with your mountings (cracks , noise ?).

Can you please post some pictures of your situation.

For this first study I will be also interested in the mounting situation of other cobra types - not only of superformance.

BDRs use this arrangement with a rubber isolator.

This is how we make ours. The half round piece is welded to the side pipe and as you'll see, it has a bolt through the middle that is adjustable. The tongue end welds or bolts to your frame or other possible mounting areas that your car has. The photo does not show the rubber vibration isolator, but almost anything can work. What ever you end up with, leave some slack when tightening the mounting bolt, so it can flex a bit. Otherwise, the welds may break.

now I have almost finished my work on the new sidepipe mountings.

How much does it weigh x 2?

2.2 lb each.



That is more than the original mounts - but in total (left and right) approx. 4 lb more are acceptable for me.
