Agree, I went 18's for that reason, you also get a little more contact patch with the larger diameter. Need to make sure your cobra can handle the increased size - wheel well, suspension travel, backspacing etc.

I only got 3k miles on my first set of BFG T/a, front look new. Then again I have easily done over a thousand burnfdowns got it sideways going into second 350 times and spun them in 3rd 200 times. I love them! Never had any vibration etc. What r u guys trying to accomplish, if you want to go over a 100 mph, buy a vette or Porsche these cars are low end torque beast. Not high speed racers, not safely anyways.

I cruised for around 30 minutes at 110+. Car felt fine.

I'm probably going to replace my old Yokohamas with some Avons after this driving season, but it would be fun to throw on a set of MT drag radials for the summer. They look awesome and I'm sure they'd be a lot of fun.

I’ve just put on a set of Mickey Thompson 235/60R/15 ET Street Radials on the front and 255/60R/15 on the rear. I haven’t put many miles on them yet and haven’t had them on the track. My first impression was that they are very round like an overinflated doughnut and taller than my old tires though supposedly the same size. They look the part, they are very soft and sticky for a road tire, the ride seems softer and with the rounded shoulders I tend to think they will be very predictable on dry surfaces. They pickup lots of gravel and the manufacturers do not recommend them for use on wet pavements. I must say the aquaplaning and unintentional lane changing is exciting even if a little disconcerting when driving through standing water. :eek:
Wet roads seem ok but beware of the puddles, I think with the tread pattern they can only cope with a little water before losing traction. I will have them on the track at the inaugural NSW Cobra championships on the 13th of July so we’ll find out how they go then, assuming its dry :rolleyes: they should go ok in the drags as they hook up really solidly, I’m not too sure about going round corners but they’re certainly much, much stickier than TA’s but that wouldn’t be too hard.

Effective spring rate increases when moving from 15s to 18s and the handling difference is night and day.

I have had a couple blast to 150ish, not any fun no need to do it again, anything above a 100 and I just don't like it. That being said I have had my Lexus gs 300 at 115 for 5 miles before with no concern, just feel safer in an enclosed car.

FWIW, I have run the M/T drag radials and the Avons on the strip. My ETs and 60 foot times are just as good with the Avons.

I am running Avons with Olthoff custom Bilstein coil overs and GRP sway bars on the SPF. If there are no serious cross winds it is rock solid and predictable up to 120mph. The noise and wind make the ride a bit uncomfortable, but I have total confidence in the car at this speed. I have documented 142mph (gps) at VIR on the South Course straightaway, and would estimate 150 at the same track running the full course. The stretch accelerating between 130 and these speeds is a bit of test as to testicle size.
Not recommended for the faint of heart.

For some reasons at higher speeds I have visions of ball joints breaking, wheels comming loose, suspension components breaking, I am sure it's in my head but that what matters to me, lol
