Default Replay XD Camera

I heard about the Replay XD on a podcast. Looks like a cool alternative to the GoPro. Has anyone bought one?

Camera Systems - Replay XD

Doug, have you ever looked at someone's video? I used to run open track in my Cobra R and had a camera set up. I was really disappointed when I looked at it, no sense of speed... basically boring. I never made any more videos.

i agree with the speed sense, its hard to judge in a video.
i just got the realplay xd today.
it is 640x480, vga resolution - not too bad.
seems to have good audio
i am going to run it and see how it looks. i am going to watkins this saturday with a shelby group.

worst case, i can have my kids use it when they are out horse riding

That's where I used to run open track, it's a blast... there's only one thing better in life It got to the point where I was beating the hell out of my car and I figured I'd quit while I was ahead, I never got a blue stripe. Many of my friends wrecked their cars there.

Nice send off for sspano1 as he heads off to Watkins Glen. Shix can always happen on the track...it's the chance you take. I raced in SCCA for years and never had an incident. I decided to get back into racing and rolled/totalled a Datsun 510 at Sears Point in Sonoma. Ooops...no more racing or track days for me unless I win the lottery.

Regarding the video. In my view, the video is more important for the driver than the viewer. In car video can help the driver improve his racing line, braking points, passing opportunities, etc.

that is some 'vette! ouch!!

i think its still paced laps this saturday, i have been on the track a few times with 'higher speed' laps.

i am doing a track day with beril-roos this tuesday at pocono
and then two days with phoenix cmr at watkins at the end of this month.

i am just looking for some fun, i don't plan on doing any competition track racing unless i build another cobra or such specifically to crash with. i would be very sad to wreck my cobra, and probably very injured :O

however, i may go this friday to the 1/8 drag strip.
now that is a different story! what can go wrong in just a straight line :O :O

REC 0004 - YouTube

REC_0003.mp4 - YouTube

Here are my two videos from watkins glenn this weekend.
The RealPlay XD shoots in 640x480 (VGA quality) and produces an AVI audio file.
Video quality is decent for what it is.
Audio is poor because of wind noise...i need to find a better way to get audio.
The AVI file size is 'large' but I converted it to MP4 and uploaded it to you-tube.

No one crashed
