Yep, the 66 GT 350 race car with the #210 on the side built by Cobra Automotive went for 80 grand, that car probably cost the owner double that to build!!!!!!!!!! not counting the intial purchase of the car!!!!!!

Was the cammer simply outgunned by the barn find Cobra that got $700K, the original GT40 that fetched $10M, or the race-pedigree BB Cobra that got over $1M? Seems to me that the value in the cammer build was just that, an original still-in-the-crate motor. Still, it should have bid higher than $110K installed in a 4xxx Shelby continuation series chassis. Ouch.

I kinda hope Bill bought it back. Otherwise someone got a great deal on a tough night. I subscribe to Keith Martin's Sports Car Market mag and I can't wait to hear what he had to say about the weekend.
I hope Bill comes back to post his thoughts here.

There are enough reserve type auctions out there. Why do people choose a no reserve auction? Seems like there's so much downside risk.

Over on the GT40's Forum, there's a large thread on an RCR SL-C (Superlite Coupe) which was being auctioned off Saturday night too. I believe the old asking price was $250K, but on Saturday night it sold for $96,000. Tough crowd. Sounds like great deals were available.
