So, back to the original question:

What defines "significant"? Racing history? The supermodel that lost her virginity on the back fender? Highest speed? Most famous owner?

We can list them all out, and do a elimination matrix to work the list down to the top ten. I think it's easier to just say I've never met a (original) Shelby Cobra that I didn't like. Though it is not the norm, I have seen some scary replica's, the worst of which was on "To Catch a Predator"...

CSX 4000 Cobra

"The first reproduction of the Shelby Cobra, CSX 4000 gave birth to the kit-car legions of Cobras all over the U.S. and has become the most replicated car in history."

hahahaha... that's pretty funny.

Probably the most significant Cobra to ME...

In addition to all the great and historically significant Cobras that were in Monterey, probably the most significant Cobra to me personally would have to be CSX3243, which was the star car in The Gumball Rally.

I never saw the Cobras race back in the day, so the first time I saw one was in that movie. I was just a kid, but the effect was permanent. I've been Cobra mad ever since.

CSX3243 was in the paddock at the Monterey Historics. It was supposed to race, but was sidelined due to engine problems.

We may never know.

I don't see a dent. Does anyone else? Looks like reflections...

3035 is without a doubt the most relevant of the 427's. Won more races than any other 427, and the fastest recorded of the 427's. A truly bogus article.

I'm with ya John. I've typically found that journalist who somehow feel they need to generate a "top 10 list" are typically not in a top ten list of their own profession.

TButtrick 08-29-2012 08:26 PM

Oh, oh, oh! Here's an idea... Let's tart our own Top 10 List here. Each person can only add ONE item in the current top 10 item list. Once the 10th item has been posted, it's up to the next person (or last poster) to start the subject of the next top 10 list. The originator can post the first item. Has to be Cobra related. OK, I'll start.

Manual choke when I got the car as I thought it would help for driving it in the winter. Took it off 6 months later when I decided they were for sissies.
