What is your purpose for the tires? Nitto makes a very good tire. The NT01 is an excellent DRY traction tire (road course tire). Short life, but great traction.

Nitto NT01 or NT555. Great handling and best grip you'll find in a DOT rated tire. They will throw some stones. Wet weather is OK, just need to be cautious in heavy rain conditions.

Once ran a set of DOT stickies not for long after running over a patch of gravel.Truely amazing how much sand those gum balls pick up and blast against the quarters.Have an older set of 15" will almost give away.

I'm running M/T 315/35/17 ET Street drag radials. There's no standard street radial that'll match it's traction. I can lift both front tires out of the hole with them. The 35 aspect ratio makes them pretty good it the twistiest too!

Here's a shot of them on the car...

priobe,

I'm using the Nitto NT05 tires. They seem ideal for wet and dry. I've also done an open track day on them and was well pleased.

Note these are not the NT05R tires which are track-only.

That said, it depends on what you intend to use them for. I like wet traction and tend to put thousands of miles on them on the street. They'll be autocrossed next Saturday too.

Have fun with whichever ones you select!

Tom

I switched from Mich Pilot Sports to the Nitto NT01's and it is night and day. They do pick up stones/sand etc and have a VERY short life expectancy-I had mine heat cycled from the supplier and love them.

BTW I have a set of Mich Pilot Sports with less than 1000 mi on them CHEAP!!! If you don't drive on the track they are fine, or you could put the front tires (245/40/ZR17) on the BACK of your hot rod BMW
