SPF titled as 1965???
Just signed a purchase order for a SPF. The Penn title lists the car as a 1965. I would like to have this actually titled as the year the car was built. Is this a pain in the ass for a PA title? Any advice would be great.

It's "technically" impossible for it to be registered/titled as a 1965. In a roundabout way, the specially constructed titles don't have an actual year.

I would seem to agree. but how difficult is it to get it title back to the year it was actually built?

It is listed as special construction but the year says 1965.

I live in Pennsylvania and was told by my insurance agent that special builds with no date or 1965 dates are much cheaper to insure than cars with build dates. When I shopped around for insurance, I was quoted policies that cost upwards of $700 for $50k worth of coverage. My car has no date and my insurance is approximately $350 for $50k of coverage. Makes no sense. Either way the car is insured for the same dollar value. My advice is if your car has no date or a 1965 date to leave it be and enjoy the extra coin in your pocket...

I live in Oregon, and here you can title replicas for the year of the car they...well, "replicate". Mine is titled as a 1965 Ford.
Our laws are actually quite replica-friendly, which is funny because I'm not allowed to pump my own gas here. Go figure.

Because of the lack of a year listed on the SPC CONS PA ttiles, some states have pushed back and sent the titles back as unusable. As such, and only in the last year, Harrisburg has started putting year that the car replicates on their SPC CONS titles when asked to.

I live in NY and I am being told that NYS is extremely difficult with Special Construction title and also listing the year as anything other than the actually year it was built. So, before I bring the car and title here to NY, I would like to have the owner modify the title with the state of PA to the proper year of construction. Otherwise, I would actually prefer the year of the title to be 65. NY state and its lovely rules and regs.

I live in California and we have to get one of the 500 SB-100 numbers issued per year to title any replica. The car is your choice as to what body year you want to use but the title will show it as a SPCN year model 0000. I am looking at my title right now for my Coupe. The only year on the title is the year that I bought the car. Unfortunately every year this state becomes more car unfriendly. If you buy a car out of state, they will not recognize the other states registration and you still have to go through much of the SB-100 process and have it titled as a SPCN.

You might be waiting an awfully long time if you believe PA will just change the year because another state does not like it.
