Regular gas added by mistake - HELP

My neighbor knew of my ethanol fuel disdain. His son topped off my BDR 427 Roush's gas tank with 87 ethanol free fuel. 50% premium 93 and 50% 87 ethanol free is my guess of what is in there.

Can I add octane booster and drive slowly to burn this fuel or should I just drain it out in the spring?

My sidepipes are off because I am sending them off for bigger mufflers. The fuel should not be used until spring but I wanted to set my mind at ease.

My sweet wife brought home a bottle of NOS octane booster. Will this solve my problem? Will this damage my engine?

I know it might be simpler to siphon fuel out and use it elsewhere.

Siphon it out and use it in other vehicles. Octane booster will not add the octane needed to get you to your desired 93.

The gas probably won't keep until spring anyway, so I would just drain or siphon it out.

If this were done in a regular driving season, you could just cruise around without going to WOT and run it out.

Your car/engine will be fine. Don't lug it or go wot and you won't see any difference. Put 50 miles on it, top off with 93, and don't think twice about it.

I agree with Itstock. But If I were worried about it & was losing sleep then I would add stabilizer to keep it to spring & also add 100 oz of Toulene for octane boost along with 25 oz of mineral spirits for a cleaning agent & 3 oz of transmission fluid (or 2 cycle oil) for lubrication. This makes a 1 gallon mixture. I have run up to 30% of this mixture in my tank (mixed with ethanol free gas) with no problems. This 1 gallon mixture added to 90 octane will make it 93.

Agree, you engine should still run ok as long as you do as above.
Just listen for pinging and back off if needed.

You will have zero problems, no issues, no future regret or disaapointment. Wait till spring and drive it instead of spilling good gas everywhere and possibly scratching the paint. To many worry warts around here. I had gas sit in a boat for 3 years, the horror, boat ran perfect and continues. Had gas in a Miata for 4 years, no disaapointment or future regret.

Thanks for all your responses. My neighbor's son was driving my car so we could get a video and he is 51 years old.

The car is not going anywhere soon and we are not in a big hurry.
If I can find a source of ethanol free 93 octane, we may put the Cobra gas in my truck.

Otherwise the ethanol free mixture may get some ethanol treatment until we get mufflers back.

My dad is 86 today and we were about ready to bomb Japan since his birthday is Dec. 7th.

I would be more concerned with the ethanol in the 93 than the ethanol free lower octane 87. Ethanol based fuels can over time phase seperate. That means the upper layer loses it's ethanol and this lowers the octane level in it. The lower layer becomes ethanol rich along with whatever water it absorbs. Ethanol doesn't stay mixed with gasoline very well, but loves to combine with water, So make sure to add an ethanol stabilizer.

its cold, the tank is about full, the engine is only 515 hp in your sig., don't panic, wait til spring, fire it up and take it easy til you put new gas in, what i would do.

I was foraging through garage and found two bottles of Rislone. Out of reach but in my garage. Will this help with ethanol problem? I have Seafoam for chainsaw fuel, too.

Is Stabil for ethanol still the best?

If sidepipes were back on, we could just run the crap through the car but sidepipes are on their way to Fargo, ND for 3" inside diameter stainless mufflers.

The toluene recipe sounds promising for the future.

The gasoline will still be 90 octane in the spring. Gasoline can sit for 3 years or more and be fine if water does not somehow get in. Ethanol is a bad source of gasoline, but it will still burn fine if not exposed to water or high moisture environment (like a boat on water). Octane blends linearly so a 50/50 mix of 87 and 93 makes 90. California only has 91 premium and 90 is pretty close. Since you are guessing, I would wait until spring and drain out a quarter or half of the tank and fill up with 93. Why screw around with your beautiful Roush engine?
