Default Cobra+5.0 Coyote+4R70W AOD Trans...Interested?

My name is Micheal Rudick.I own and operate Rudick Motorsports. I am a pro builder for the JBL/Goins Motorsports Cobra Replica. I am currently building a car for a customer out of Texas that I thought may be worthy of a new thread which I will most likely post and update in the Build Log forum. We are putting a Ford Racing 5.0L Coyote crate engine with a 4R70W 3 speed AOD transmission from Performance Automatic in a JBL/Goins Motorsports Street Version Chassis and fiberglass body. As you know, the engine choice coupled with the transmission makes for an interesting combination which I am excited about and looking forward to working through. As I said, I wil be posting and updating weekly on my progress in the Build Log forum and hope to have the car near completion by the R & G this October. I already have the chassis built and the engine and transmission are now sitting on my shop.....so here we go!

Amazing modern engine that loves the revs... to couple that with 3 speeds is a shame! Give it some more gears...

I'm confused...4R70W and AOD are completely different transmissions and neither are 3 speeds. Did you mean a 4 speed 4R70W? If so, great combination.

My next SPF will have a Coyote engine or something equivalent, maybe..... I really like the engine and associated electronics.

Just not interested in any Cobra with a slush box and the Coyote's been done quite a bit already. Granted, this is coming from a guy with an FE in his car but I do dig the Coyote.

Default Pedal box area

Here is a shot of the pedal area. This car had a Tremec 3550 until the customer requested an automatic. Even with the size of the 5.0 there is plenty of pedal room. Pedal placement is still in line with seat and steering coulmn.

Are you putting in paddle shifters? I really wish I'd gone with a 4R70W instead of an AOD so I could do paddle shifters.

We have a 4R70W with an Edge torque converter 2500 stall, all managed by Baumann Engineering electronic controller. This allows for the addition of paddle shifters if desired, we also put a switch on the dash to disable the overdrive function when tracking. A great system and fully programable through a laptop.

How does the engine relate in position to the front wheels?

Keep the pictures coming Michael. Everything is looking great!

I can attest to the quailty of the workmanship and thought that has gone into this project. One thing for certain is that Michaels association with JBL/Goins is one of absolute integrity. This combo is sure to be a winner if you want to deal with someone that will stand behind their work and provide you with a quality product.

Looking forward to following the progress on this and your Daytona Coupe build.

Clois

For somebody who drives with hand controls, this sounds cool.
Keep us in loop.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you for the kind words Clois. I AM PUMPED about the Coupe build and am looking forward to it!! First things first though, I need to put the finishing touches on this car. My customer chose Plum Crazy Purple w/ Titanium stripes for their colors and I am very close to ready to paint. I have TONS of pics but I am having an awful time getting them to upload from my MAC. I have even loaded some onto my albums in my profile and then turned around and tried to load the same pic on this thread and have it fail! I have a way of resizing the pics but it is cumbersome at best. Look for some Purple Pics in the future on this bad little Coyote!

I think I may have conquered the uploading demon from my Apple products to the website. Here is a few randomly picked build photos from my customer in Austin's 5.0 Coyote Cobra. A little messy at times with wiring but you know it is organized chaos if you have ever wired these cars before!
