Unusual roll bar and stripe pattern.

I think the stripe pattern is quite patriotic. And the roll bar "unifies" the overall theme.

Patrick, you might have read it in my thread elsewhere here, but I asked my kids what the theme should be, and we all agreed we wanted Ol' Glory's colors. Red, White, and Blue (American colors for an American Icon). The roll bar was a no brainer: serves two purposes. First, I wanted to offer my children and wife the same protection (whether it is real or not, it would be inconsequential to me) I get. Second, it IS unusual amongst CSX cars, past or present.
I'd like to think that not only is my car NOT an original CSX, but also a mutt continuation at that:LOL:
BTW his name is RICKY BOBBY.

Hey Tony, I have seen your posts and pics here for many months now. Obviously, we all have our reasons, BUT why did you get rid of your carbon fiber car, with the Lotus paint scheme (pardon me, but those ARE Lotus green and yellow...)? I thought it was a rocking car...

Patrick, thank you. I somehow get a feeling that coming from you that is an extremely huge compliment:MECOOL: I have also always liked the "double single" roll bar you enjoy. It was my second choice, and only because YOU chose it first did i stayed away from it:D.

It was a rockin' car. The colors were actually British Racing Green (Jaguar paint BRG) and some yellow from Mercedes on the stripes. It was a combo available from Shelby/HST.

I loved it, my wife hated it (it was too hot, too smelly, too windy, too noisy, too uncomfortable, too too. Put too infront of anything objectionable and it was to her). We've been married 37 years now, so she did have some say. I loved it, and she would have let me keep it if we could have had (1) a toy that we could both agree to, and (2) her car in the garage (we have a two car garage). Tried to sell the house to get a three car, and that didn't work due to the sucky economy, so I sold the Cobra and got the Ford GT - it has regular three point seat belts, air conditioning and a place to plug the charger for the ipod. I forgot to tell her that it has a luggage compartment the size of a make up case (except make up will melt if you put it in there :) )

Of all the cars I've ever owned, letting the Cobra go will be my saddest moment.

P.S. I have been taking pictures for almost 50 years now, and in college got to judge other student's and at my camera club. Those are good shots! I especially liked the billboards shot. Years ago that would have been a silkscreen print. If you were trying to emulate it you nailed it.

REAL 1 12-29-2012 05:17 AM

I said "unusual". That doesn't mean " bad" just "different". Kinda like Patrickt.

Tony, btw your wife can compare notes with mine. She refers to my Cobra as "Christine" ( there is a story of events behind that so the name was definitely earned. Funny from my perspective not so much from hers). Believes the car is evil and threatens( kidding I think) about putting Holy water in the radiator. Also says she will no longer go near the car without a crucifix.

I've tried to tell her she being ridiculous....that some cloves of garlic should do fine. ; )

She doesn't see the humor in that. Go figure.

Tony:

I was starting to feel bad for you, when you remind me you substituted the Cobra by a GT40 with the Gulf scheme:MECOOL: I love the GT40.
You now, I warned my wife (of only 12 years, but she will yell you those are 12 LOOOONG years) about the "hardships" of Cobra ownership months before i ordered. She was in disbelief that I would want such a "difficult" car as my dream sports car (she always figured I would go the Ferrari/Porsche way). Anyways, it did the trick, because when she first met the car, she was not stunned. Today, we ride together to the local coffee shop, and stuff, and she knows not to put make up on, or do her hair, etc. As a matter of fact, I am having Olthoff Racing build a set of pedal extensions so that my wife can reach them, as she wants to drive the car.
Thanks for sharing your reasons for selling the Cobra. And the kind comments on my pictures, I'd love to take full credit, but Photo Bucket allowed me to alter my original pictures:o I DO take tons of pictures and have invested on some really good lenses:D

Mr. Real 1:

I did not think your comments had any bad connotations in them! I am very humbled that you took the time to look at the pics, and gather you enjoyed them, and that's all I wanted. BTW Wasn't it your son who made a sweet video of your car with the infamous and highly discussed Aerosmith song on the background? That's creativity:)
Oh, and any Cobra driver that uses driving gloves can drive my car anytime:DI use a pair of vintage (repro) grand prix gloves, and I totally dig them...
Cheers!

No, I think you should hope they never meet else mine will inform yours of the remaining tricks she used on me to convince you you shouldn't keep it :) One of those agreeing that a Ford GT was a substitute. The rest were devious including stating that she would drive it once - from our garage to the storage unit - so she could get her garage space back.

Not quite, it's the 2006 Ford GT, not a GT40. The GT40 wouldn't have passed muster either. The Ford GT has regular three point seat belts (although I have a set of harnesses for track use), air conditioning and a place to plug an iPod into.

Tutosnake 12-29-2012 04:21 PM

My bad, need new glasses (seriously!). As if the GT sucks:D
