There are excellent examples today of solid rollers Isky has them with pressure fed bushings that can take spring pressures over a 1000lbs.
For years ran solids in all my hot rodded Harleys and for years adjusted them a lot tighter than reccommended.Once the motor warmed up the sound was music to my ears.Always remember all motors stretch when warm.
Always loved hearing the solid tappet motors even with a little too much clearance.

Lippy,

I must have missed something.
When did this go from a conservative "street" era with no hood scoop, no roll bar, with under car exhaust and low riser intake to a balls out 7500rpm solid roller with victor intake 650hp monster

From my view from our exchanges - you came across reserved and conservative, but with your head screwed on right. Not a criticism, but a compliment.

Solid roller, 650hp seems to go against that philosophy.
FWIW - My vote hydraulic near enough to 600hp that's about 200hp more than you'll need.

Brent will build you whatever you want, even if you don't know what you want.
Ask me how I know...

Sometimes I veer wildly from one extreme to the other. Cobras are crazy cars to begin with, so why not do it all the way? I landed on an S/C with a hood scoop, no stripe, roll bar, quick jacks, side pipes, and FIA wheels. Done deal. Now I'm just revisiting some of my engine choices before I settle on the right combination.

Haha Fair enough!

BUT... You're going to need to put stripes on it then

Enjoy, I kind of feel making these decisions is all part of the fun and a right of passage. In the end you'll probably end up doing what our friend Clair has suggested

What kind of digital torque wrench did you get???After buying one from Snapon a few years ago, when the auto crunch/cash fo clunkers and dealerships being shut down, bought 3 more off Ebay as young mechs were giving up wrenching and looking for other work--------

Sure are the thing to use on all these modern? torque to yield once and replace oem fasteners-----

It's a Snap-on. Does lb-ft, in-lb, n-m, plus degrees. Gotta have it for the rods that have a torque-angle spec.

Default Lifters

I vote Hydraulic.

These cars are supposed to fun cars.
You cant enjoy driving it if you re under the hood adjusting lifters.

Assuming I'm fine adjusting valve lash as necessary, and also replacing lifters every 7,500-10,000 miles, is the longevity of a solid roller cam motor the same as a hydraulic roller cam motor? With the exception of the lifters, could I get, say 50-75k out of the solid roller motor without failure of other parts?

I'm glad Brent ordered the cam already.
You are REALLY over-worrying this thing. In how many years are you planning to accumulate 75K miles? In how many open-track events? In how many Cobras that you swap this plant into?
Gaskets, rocker arms, stem seals, lifters, rings-among the things that WILL fail and long before 75K. No matter what cam.
Man-up. You've got a Cobra-not a Solara.
