More data on the obsessive carpet thread. The first photo (left) shows Wilton III on the left, Finetuft Velour in the middle, and ERA nylon as the large piece (underneath). The second photo is the same, but taken with a flash.
My observations: - These *all* are nicer than any of the carpet I have in my other cars. - ERA does use a very high quality nylon that is really very plush and much nicer than I thought it would be. - That said, the Wilton is the blackest of the three, and very soft. - The Velour is a bit lighter than the Wilton in color, but it's probably softer. I don't think it would look out of place in a Cobra. - The nylon has slightly more of a sheen to it. There are no bad options here, these all are really nice carpets. I'll probably speak with one more interior guy to get another opinion on fading and wear and then make a decision. |
They do all look good, get the synthetic and use the saved money for gas, those FE's eat gas like a fat person at a buffet...%/

Decided to go with the Wilton after I saw it in a friend's car and checked out some samples. The standard carpet is really nice, but the Wilton III is killer. This project is already pretty far over budget but at least I'm happy with it so far.

Will the wool be more likely to go moldy when wet? Most ski boats use synthetic. Dirt doesn't stick to it. I think I'll be using nylon. What is the best noise or heat insulator. Is it ok to use brown carpet underlay, only on the floor, and silver dynoshield on the tunnel?

Yeah, I think wool is my choice too and seeing the sample photo confirms it. Hope to see some pics when you're finished.
