Are Cobras attracted by people with Audies?

What is up with these guys with Audies?? I'm not talking about the car, it is the driver.

There I was tooling along on a four lane portion of the expressway at a nice 70 - 75 MPH. When all of the sudden I got some silver Audie next to me doing everything he could to engage in a race.

Then he gets pissed at me because I laugh and wave him off.

Is this happening around you guys?

If it was this guy in an Audi, then I wouldn't mess with him.

I get all kinds of guys in a variety of cars from ricers to suv's try to engage me.

I was sitting at a light in a questionable part of town one day when a guy pulls up next to me in his beater Honda. His arm, which is hanging out the window, is bigger than my leg. He revs the Honda and looks over at me. Then he says "wanna race?" At that point, I could have been a dick and laughed at him (he had his girlfriend sitting next to him) and really started something. But I thought better and after looking his ride over said "sure, but you gotta give me a head start!" He busted up laughing, saved face with his girlfriend and I lived to drive away.

My daily driver is an Audi....do you want to race?

:D

Just last Sunday I was with my wife in the Cobra and drove by an Audi R8. He turned around and wanted to play. He caught up. I wasn't about to race with my wife in the car, no matter how much she was prodding me.

Maybe I should have. We would have been going up hill. :D

I have been taunted by a few of those guys in R8's and the "S Class". Quite a confident bunch and usually wave them off. However, I have held my own with a few. The one car that goaded and flattened me was an Aston Martin One-77 on a toll road on the way to the Dana Pointe Concourse show. Made me feel like I was driving a Mini Cooper. Let those Audi boys go find him and good luck to them;)

trularin 05-03-2013 08:23 AM

Good to know I am not the only one.

Nope, do not want to race, thanks for the invite.

And to be clear, I wasn't being a dick, I smiled and waved him off as in I wasn't going to engage in a race on the freeway with a crap load of cars around.

There seems to be some concept that since Iron Man, everyone that has an Audie thinks it is a race car driver in our area.

Thanks for the replies, I think cobra owners know where they stand in the 'car list'.

Have been teased by a few but never an Audi. One time leaving a car show tried to get a guy in a Countach go stop light to stoplight,he backed away.Honestly having this car street racing is not that big a deal, would rather be on the motorcycle for better all around vision.

I seldom find anyone who wants to play. Sometimes folks will run up beside me, but then they fade away or turn off. I have had a very few takers, but nothing that wasn't easily dealt with - hahaha!

It's not just Iron Man driving an Audi, now the new Spock does too.

They (Audi owners) like us are a special breed ha ha.Actually I prefer another make of luxury automobile.

trularin 05-08-2013 06:26 AM

I live in the motor city, everyone thinks they have a rocket...even the rust is fast.

With that, there are only a few that get excited...just do not understand this entire Audie thing.

I agree, I can think of a few cars I would have over an Audie.

a very very nice and fast v8 classic car... in fact very similar to the Lotus super 7 and the Cobra ... I'm sure you would love it

Beware of Harley. 180hp vs 70hp. A perfect example of torque vs hp.
