Look closely Ned, that's a 289 cap. I just wondered if some of the early 427s used left over 289 caps.

Your eyes may be better than mine ( actually, a good possibility) but it looks just like the cap on my old Cobra (CSX3121).

Round Button Cap
That style cap was continued over from the 289 cars up to around big block chassis number 3200, at which point the square release cap started being used. That said, something doesn't look quite right with the cap on 3112, it may be a repro. Mickmate can you comment?

Yes that was Johns build-he did a great job. I have spoken and exchanged emails many times with him including a few recent pictures. He put a lot of love into that car and I believe sold it with about 10 miles on it?
Sounds like the timing was not good for you to purchase? It is a monster with 485hp and is my first Cobra.

Cap is correct for street 427. Absolutely detest the black wheels, looks "Mickey Mouse"
