Hydraulic throw out bearing
What are the advantages/disadvantages to a hydraulic throw out bearing?
Can the existing clutch master cylinder be used?
Specifically, ERA supplied clutch master cylinder with a McLoed hydraulic throw out bearing.

It has been my experience that you would want a 3/4" master cylinder for your clutch TOB.
Advantages in my opinion are: 1. Great for spaces that will not allow a traditional TOB and TOB fork. 2. Lease effort when depressing your clutch 3. and what else do you have to spend $3 or $4 hundred dollars on this week?
I have one in my Cobra and will also be in my coupe. The designs have been significantly improved over the last several years. The early McLeod versions tended to leak but mine has been in my car for 7 or 8 years and not a drop has leaked out.

I've had a Tilton racing TOB in my Cobra for over 13 years without a problem. It's the initial setup that most important.

What few times I drove cars with hydraulic clutch releases the pedal feel was immediately apparent.Grew up with mechanical or cable releases and back then hydraulic clutch releases were a pain if not properly bled and or leaky.
Our Cobra has a cable release with a spare cable just in case.

I personally would never recommend using one. A regular fork and slave cylinder set up is much cheaper and easier to work on if something goes bad. I get a lot of emails/phone calls about hydraulic bearings, and I notice a much higher failure rate.

I too have had a McLeod in my car for 8 years or so and as Roscoe said it is in the initial set up.
Good to see you on the boards again Roscoe. I have missed your advise.
