3002-Love? / Hate?
I have always felt that CSX 3002 (the prototype 427) was the quintessential big block Cobra. Small nose, big hips and a Comp windshield have always rung my adolescent bells. I'd have built mine that way if I had the talent.
To my knowledge, no replica has been made of it-and I always wondered why. I'm sure the small nose can no longer be a cooling problem with our Taurus fans and great radiators of today. I think the K'bros have made a small number of them but I've not seen them on the forum or elsewhere. So what's the prevailing sentiment on 3002 replicas??? |

Hi Tech in AZ made a few. They did one in ally that was very close to the real one. That may have been what they pulled their mold off.

Yeah that nose is all business-note cooler scoop. Like me, not just a pretty face.
Did not know Hi Tech made some. Any owners on here?? Please post pics. |

I generally like it, but I don't love how the rear wheels don't really fill the wheel wells.

3002 IS the most beautiful 427 that was ever created!
Hi Tech's 3002 mold was taken from 3002. It spent quite a bit of time in AZ. The aluminum replica made was/is a work of art. It did have one issue with the front flares but Tim told me that was the way the owner requested it. They are more like an FIA. Still beautiful though! Larry |

What ever happened to those molds? They wouldn't happen to be the ones Roger Bollick is using for his "Exact Replicas" would they (with a bit of modification)? I thought I heard a rumor to that effect? Just curious..... Bob |
Tim Gunning still has the molds as far as know. He had talked of selling the 3002 mold but don't know if did or not. Roger Bollick's cars aren't molded from Hi Tech's cars.
The standard Hi Tech 427 molds are taken from CSX3190. Larry |
Looks odd in my book, I prefer the big front face for the radiator...

HATE is such a strong word... I'll go with - "I like it less than some others"
|
I'm curious....what flavor of 427 was in this car? Top Oiler or Side Oiler?

Hi Tech owners-love to see your 3002s posted here.
Am I right? Are there any Kirkham 3002s?? |
I always wondered if anyone had Kirkham build a 3002 replica! Thought that would be awesome but I haven't heard of one. If I only had the money!
