That was bad but the response teams did a great job. Down in the posts some woman had posted that her boss and her boyfriend were in that accident and both are in critical condition.

Prayers to them and their families. Sobering reminder how dangerous these cars are. Didn't appear to be a very high speed impact, but with lap belts and no whiplash protection, doesn't take much.

newspaper article was posted a couple months ago it was enough of a impact to snap the bottom of the telephone pole.

Also shows need for either a engine driven mech fuel pump (if carb) and/or crash shutoff if electric fuel pump-----------

and a fire extinguisher. might not have helped in this case, but still a good idea

Yep---but I have seen injuries caused by contact with flying fire extinguishers that came out of there flimsy mounting brackets(seems brackets are suitable for hanging an ext by a shop door but not capable of retaining it in a crash-----and a fire fed by an 100 gph pump with a rear mounted battery and 20 gallons of gas trumps a quart sized extinguisher--------
