Doug:
You might want to read this article, pretty good comparison of engines.

You are right and seating aluminum heads is a special job that it is very expensive for the seats have to be pressed. The alternative is add lead additive to the gas, I used that in my Volvo and it worked great.

i used to buy TEL to add to the gas, that day is gone. lead additive is not available. the last company making it is gone. it has resurfaced in a limited quantity but it costs the same as race fuel.

lead substitute is available...but it is mostly voodoo. toluene, and or oxygenators. it's sad really, the addditives in todays fuel are as, if not more, dangerous then the lead was......

bottom line for a buyer is trust but verify the build....if it can't be verified then it didn't happen. think about what you do with your car...

don't you document or at the very least save receipts for the things you put into your car?

Doug:
This is what I would do again (as I did for my Cobra) call these guys:
https://www.carchex.com/car-inspecti...FQ6f4Aod-zgA0w

ensure that the owner allows this and include a road test, if he does not agree to this, I would walk away period. if he allows this then you can be more confident to make an offer. Start low he is asking $36K, start at $30K and work your way from there.
I wish you good luck, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.
Sincerely
Lou

I am 6'6", 245ish and can almost completely stretch out my legs (36 inseam) in a 96" chassis. Lower the seat so you do not look like Thomas Magnum staring out over the top of his 308 windshield. I would not worry too much about the stereo, as you can only hear it when the engine is off anyway.

If the car you're looking at doesn't work out, Hunter, Lone Star, Everett-Morrison, and Classis Roadsters all make/made stretch wheelbase cars. Hunter, Lone Star and EM have 96" wheelbase and CR is 94". When I give people rides in my Hunter they're always impressed with the amount of legroom.
