Default Hunting for Cobra

Though, I have yet sell my airplane, I am looking for cars none the less and learning alot in the effort.

While at the Denbeste open house I ran into a guy who said he might consider selling me one his many cobras.
I went up today and looked at it, Very nice, accurate car, at least from my beginners view.
Then his wife calls and says to not sell it, and he starts to waffle on the price.
I get the feeling I will not now be able to buy it, now that I gave him time to think about it some. Pitty, as I would love to own that car.
It is a Lone star. Square tube frame. Looked nice and clean in side and out. and she ran beautifully. too bad I don't have the money right now.
looked to have a ford rear end.

I think Lone Star's are long wheelbase and not accurate to original. Check out ERA. Accurate body, IRS rear suspension and quality car all around.

Superformance makes a quality piece if you want a complete roller needing only Motor/Trans and a few small parts to finish. 60k new
A lot of nice used SPF cars are available, finished running cars of course and one can find a nice car sometimes in the 45k range and up.
Your budget may be the decider when considering brand.

Best of luck-Hope you find the ONE!

diverrick,

Several folks on CC will likely tell you they did not buy the first one they fell in love with. I remember that "first one" that "got away" for me. Reflecting back fifteen years later I can honestly say I am so glad I did not buy that first car. You will hear various stories from others about their "almost first car". If you play it right, you will likely look at several before you decide on your first one. The journey to find the right one for you can be just as fun as the destination. Have your cash ready in hand because the great deals on the right cars don't sit for sale for long. Good luck. Have fun.

What are your priorities for a car? As near original as possible? Original in outward appearance but not so concerned under the skin? General Cobra appearance built as a modernized hot rod? Custom detail and work with general Cobra appearance. Old school mechanics? Modern mechanics? Original series engine? Engine type not a major issue? Full IRS suspension? Live axle rear suspension - OK? Authentic appearing interior? Not to concerned over authentic details in interior? General budget range? Planned use of the car? Seeking maximum performance? Good street performance and compliant chassis performance?

Some information along these lines will get you some very definate recommendations. Every Cobra replica is not like every other Cobra replica.

Thanks for al the info. I have another post going that is close enough topic wise to this one, that I am going to use that one, and let this one die. Can one of the mods delete this one for me? or tell me how I can do it.

diverrick,
no need to delete, a link here to your other thread called "learning what Cobra to buy" will redirect them to you other thread. A moderate might close this thread if they see it.
Sounds like you want folks to go to this thread instead

Learning what to buy
