One was a 289 FIA car--Carroll told us he was going to use it to restore an original car.

One was a 427 car--Carroll worked with Planet Electric to turn it into an electric car. The main rails were cut out to hold the batteries. I think the project was abandoned and the car was eventually sold.

Thank you.

I seem to recall the electric car was at Shelby American and discussed on the factory tour for a while (I think it was absent in a later tour I took.) As I recall it was some college that did the project. It was a fast drag car (of course, because of instant high torque, but only for one run.) Pictures were not allowed in the Cobra area so I don't have a pic of it.

Chaz Haba of Planet Electric did the original work. He cut out the main frame rails. Carroll invited Thomas and I to lunch and showed us the car in Chaz's shop in LA.

I am not sure what happened to the car after that.

A month or two ago they did a natural gas car too. They shared it on their social media outlets.

David: Thanks for clarifying.
Keep up the good work and providing wonderful cars that are a credit to the original and help to continue the legend and do Cobras proud.

Cheers.

One of your best posts and I fully agree with it.

Sounds like a bunch of old ladies (not MILFS either) sitting around and wondering out loud wherever their minds feel like taking them.

Then Davey Boy or someone with REAL knowledge comes on, and then everyone throttles down and says "oh...cool...thanks...here's some more questions that are truly none of our damn business," but they get them answered anyway.

Get off your asses once in a while and go drive your Cobras!:p

I'm always happy to answer questions if I am around. We don't have a lot of secrets around here.

Jamo and Ron, Thanks for riding herd on all of us all these years :D

Thanks for providing me an aluminum car that was $100,000 dollars less than the car you supply the bodies, etc for...:)

Ouch.:(

Just a thought here. Since you are a big Kirkham fan and must want to see them do well and since SAI may be a valued account for them perhaps your juvinile pot shots might be counter productive? I'll let you ponder that and wait for your insightful response. ;)

I do, just don't understand the markup for a csx roller compared to a Kirkham which in all due respects is in the same class, it's like wine, I see bottles that sell for $1000 dollars and some for $100, which taste better that's an opinion, just like our opinions with cars, now if someone want's to buy a csx at that price range more power to them, I just don't feel it's justified, now that's not to hard to understand...again I like every cobra like its my own, some I just don't feel are worth their price point...

REAL 1 08-25-2013 07:30 AM

Yes,yes. Good point. I don't always drink wine..but when I do it's Boons Farm. That other stuff is just over price grape juice.

I do agree that people buy what they perceive is the best for them to buy based on their own criteria given their finances and what they choose to spend.

Yes, it is just that easy.

razerwire 08-25-2013 11:45 AM

All of these cars are a large ticket item. We all try to reason and justify our actions. When it came to the car I have my thinking was , I can have a csx car and recoup the extra expense on exit. The car was assembled by , in my opinion one of the best. Extra rare in that it is # 7 of 11 full comp cars approved by factory, not that I need this much car. And it was a fair price since it was started by someone else. Also was aluminum, which was very important to me. At my age time frame was also a consideration. I like the Kirkland body shape also. :-) :-) My free time is real important and my cars play into that , enjoy what ever you have.

Maybe I should start a Real! vs FordRacing65 thread!!! You guys don't let up lol.

On another note without starting another thread I was watching the Vegas based Pawn Stars and only caught a glimpse of it. A "1965 cobra" with ID was sold to the store. I caught the end when they were installing an engine. So if this was a Cobra was this a continuation that they completed?

Bernica 08-25-2013 12:27 PM

That show and that Cobra have been pretty well vetted here by the members of CC. Do a thread search.

Fiberglass csx, they finished it and sold it.
