How many Shelby continuation or Authorized Models are there?

I was doing a weekly search of a certain price range and was wondering how many continuation or authorized Shelby models are there?

Not sure who has the rights but here are a few that I come across all the time.

Continuation Cobras-various models starting with CSX
All the new GT350, GT500 from SAI and newer Hertz models
'67 GT500 SE Continuation
'67 GT40 MK IV-J Car Continuation, just to throw this one in.

Edit: Ok Street legal or Race track automobiles, not golf carts, bikes trikes. lol thanks A-Snake

No not this time. lol

Just wondering how many models, for example look at the ones I listed.

Not speaking about the back alley deals done years ago. There was a maybe a CS Mustang but those are not my areas of interests.

I could have been joking on another thread but not this one. No debate just wondering what is out there that I may have missed or most likely have forgotten about.

Better watch out Bernie I might put together pieces or snippets of oral history that I gave for my town and post a few threads like Conversetions with Carroll Shelby or Conversetions about US Steel or better yet Racing with Cozy Powell across the US.

Conversetions is my twist on the word conversations.

OnyxRider, You may want to rethink your question.**)

How about the Shelby Dodge Charger and Omni GLHS?

RodKnock 09-04-2013 05:49 PM

And how about the 2nd production of '66 GT350 convertibles circa 1980 with Beverly Hills Mustang.

And the orphan from the short-circuited 3rd production run, which never received a Shelby MSO, but had pics taken with Shelby on a few magzines circa 1991-ish. That venture went belly up quickly.

1ntCobra 09-04-2013 05:53 PM

I think it all started out sometime in the 1980s with some continuation 1966 GT350 convertibles.

Don't forget the Shelby Dodges. Wasn't there an open wheel Dodge track car for a beginner's race series?

And then there were the SAAC Mustangs.

Continuation Daytona Coupes and Completion 427 S/Cs built by McCluskey.

Shelby authorized Eleanor Mustangs.

I'm sure thats just the tip of the iceberg. ;)

And the Shelby Oldmobile Series One. It was years late (and then one of the customers went and asked the EPA about the model year being behind the actual year and well ... oops).

The "GT500" cars are MSO'd and VIN'd from Ford, not Shelby. They never (save for the modified "KR"s, "SuperSnakes", etc.) see the Shelby facility. They are a model called "Shelby" but carry the Ford WMI VIN indicator.

The new MK IV GTs are not "Shelby" products and the original MK IVs were also not "Shelbys", they are "Fords".

Shelby Dakota?

Quote:

The Shelby Dakota was a limited-production performance version of the Dodge Dakota Sport pickup truck. Offered by Shelby for 1989 only, it was his first rear wheel drive vehicle in many years.
The Shelby Dakota started with a short-wheelbase, short-bed, standard-cab pickup. The 3.9 L V6 was removed in favor of the company's 5.2 L V8 with throttle-body injection. On paper, the swap looked simple since both engines were similar, but the tight space in the Dakota's engine compartment meant removing the engine-driven fan in front and using electric ones instead. Removing the belt-driven fan increased the stock 5.2L V8's output by 5 hp (3.7 kW) up (to 175 hp) but torque was 270 ft·lbf (370 N·m).
Special wheels and trim, as well as individually numbered dash plaques proclaimed the car's heritage. At the time, it was the highest-performing pickup truck in existence, and would set the stage for later factory efforts like the GMC Syclone and Ford Lightning. Total Production: 1475. 480 in white and 995 in red. List price was $15,813 plus freight.

I threw the Mark IV's in there and knew they weren't SHelby's.

I spoke with a long time Shelby guy and he told me the info I was looking for.

You can close the thread if you wish to.

I'm not 100% certain, since I don't have my registry in front of me, but I don't believe the SAAC Mustangs were authorized by Shelby. They were built and sold by SAAC.

And one more for Shelby: Shelby Series 1.

Where do you think Shelby got the idea of building late model "Shelby" Mustangs

Those I don't consider continuation. Omni goes like hell glh or dakota. If you mean SAAC Mustangs do you mean '65-70 Shelby's?

No, the "SAAC Mustang" was produced by some club honchos and "endorsed" by CS

OnyxRider 09-07-2013 11:28 AM

This is one I forgot and just came across.
