Looks like you can send in for registration and Vin info in CA .. stating you need the info for a number of reason.. I used safety, and recall info. Need to know manufacture of origin in order check recalls and safety information on the kit.. should fly. cost is $20.. and I'm sure it will take for ever..lol

About right front to back.. little small sided to side.. but it the bow angles that are all off.. the hood has a strong rounded curve to it,, mine would be less rounded.. more flat..
Here is the link to the hood I bought..

If you had a shot from the front looking down toward the foot boxes would help a lot. For now it looks like an early Everett Morrison. There were no other manufacturers I know of that made mounting flanges in the upper hood corners that were molded in. Most Cobras replicas maintain an original rounded look.
This body also favors the early Midstaes body. In 1986 Midstates created new molds that were really improved.
There was also a Canadian company that used MII suspension and had similar dash design. The dash is what throws me. Could be the original owner made a different one.
Do you know what motor was in it before?

the badging says it was a 427.
I will try an post a shot of that hood laying on the car..''
Thanks for the info.. seems like the hood/door issue could be a huge problem.

You are into this for so cheap, you may consider buying a new complete body. You already have paper for registration, so this would'nt be an issue. I've seen very nice body packages for 5k or less. Another consideration is to make your own doors and hood. Frame it like an original and wrap it in fiberglass. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. Good luck.

Why not bend up a frame and make an aluminum hood for it?

Went to the Barrett Jackson Auction here in Vegas, Today. Cobras where everywhere.. real ones and kits.. as well as the csx kit ones.. Spoke to some guys from Superperfomance.. They may have been from Shelby..
Anyways They seem to think the kit is a factory five.. because of the external hinges on the trunk.. the ford front end.. They said to check the design of the frame.. which can change from each individual builder of the factory five frame. The seem VERY confident. I did not show them photos, and they said that they would not matter..
Thoughts on this? It has but me in some direction.. anyways..
Based on the hood I bought.. it is NOT a LA exotic..lol

Clearly you spoke with someone who was clueless, it is not a Factory Five.

No, not a Factory Five. Even the earliest ones had 4 inch round tube frames with a X-brace at the front for the front suspension, some parts of which could be salvaged from a newer (1982 on) Mustang front end (but not the entire front end and cross memeber.

Ok. then.. back to square one. will wait a bit for CA to get back to me..Also have a guy borrowing a hood from the Shelby factory to try.. if that is a bust.. it will be time to dump this project. I don't have the time to devote to a proprietary design project like this. I have 3 other muscle cars in pieces as well. One goes to paint this week.... just bought a new ram dually I want to do some things to, picked up a 38ft rv that needs some attention too.. Too many projects at once.. Maybe I'll just store it some where ...for now.
Just another mistake , I guess...

I agree with jhand, if your kit is 6" longer and 4" wider it could be a Kellison, West Coast, or a Stallion.
Normally these replicas would have a 9" Ford single axle vs a Jag IRS.

I think you could be looking at a scratch build frame/chassis that was married up to a commercially available body. I don't think the body and chassis were built by the same individual / firm.
