Default pre purchase question

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm ready to buy a 1966 Lone Star Cobra and was woundering if the LSC is a high quility Kit. The Cobra has a 351W stroked to 427 T5 transmission and the price is $29k. The car seems in mint condition and was built by the owner who has a neat and clean garage so that may give some indication to quality. The car has no power steering or brakes (wildwood) and the brakes are tough to get the car to stop (Normal?).

Some advise and help would be greatly appriciated.

LSC's seem to have a good reputation for being quality cars. Their main draw is that they are larger/roomier than standard Cobras. This is also their main negative to some who prefer more "correct" dimensions. Unless it's just that you are not used to non-power brakes, the Wilwoods should do a good job of stopping the car. I have non-power Wilwoods on both my Cobra and '38 Chevy. They work very well on the Cobra but I really have to jump on them to stop the 1,000lb heavier Chevy when it's up to speed. Check out Cobra Country for comparables, but it sounds like a reasonable price. Good luck.

I have a Lone Star. Finished it in 1998, brakes took a little experimenting with master cylinder sizes, but stops well now. Sounds like a pretty good deal, if you like the looks and seems to be well built. As others have said, the quality of the build is only as good as thew builder, so be sure to inspect it before you pull the trigger.

I have seen one Lone Star and it looked like a nicely done car.

If this is your first Cobra, you should really look at several different makers cars. They are all different and offer different features. Then make an informed decision.
