Default Gas Fumes Smell Help

I just completed my CSX roller build and I'm noticing a strong smell of gas fumes in the garage. There are no apparent leaks I can detect.

I did noticed the braided cloth AN fuel lines also have a gas smell premeating through them.

I'm intereted if others have had the same issue and have used a charcol canister on the fuel cell vent hose?

I'm also going for an alignment this week. Any insight on specs and potential issues you can share would be appraciated?

Thanks for you input.

Although your carb may have something to do with it, it's very likely your fuel hosing. I originally used Earl's (expensive) hose and I too had a very strong fuel smell. The ethanol in modern fuel degrades the rubber in the hose. When I installed my motor in the car, I switch over to teflon lined hose. I suspect that using rubber hose in a fuel injected car like I have could lead to long term injector clogging issues. Haven't run it yet, but I suspect the fuel smell with be markedly improved.

The current rubber used in "Fuel injection" High pressure hose will not allow the smell to permeate it.

Certain AN fuel lines are aromatic, and are not compatible with modern day enthanol/fuel blends. You have to be very specific about the type of AN fuel hose (manufacturer, supplier, part number to be sure). I can suggest a shop in NJ to get the replacements, but first must know the general area you are located in. (County and or town will do). Feel free to PM me if you do not want to post your location out in the open.
