Default New Shop/Garage

I could use some floor plan/layout ideas on a new shop I'm about to build after relocating to east Texas.

I'm leaving behind a 32X24, story and a half shop and it was fine for what I do. But thinking about extending the length of this one to 28. Place will be used mostly for storing two cars, one the Cobra and a bay for what comes and goes as the mood hits. Need space for some CNC stuff, lathe, mill, welding area for small fabrication, 20" band saw, and so on, I already have this equipment. Had all that in one side of the shop before and it worked out fine but looking for new ideas.

What I don't have is a lift and I have decided to use an in-floor dual scissor lift to keep the floor level (that decision is made as I really don't want any posts in the shop. I'm planning more of "collector car" type this time instead of a fabrication type. Nice floor covering, probably epoxy or urethane but still thinking about that one. Might consider that half story again for clean storage but the stairs cost some space last time.

Any ideas or pictures would really be appreciated. Been on a couple of garage sites but haven't found anything all that special and usable yet. Probably break ground in a couple of weeks if I can get comfortable.

Thanks for any ideas,

Wayne,
I don't have anything specific to suggest, but if you are not already familiar with www.garagejournal.com , I suggest you look there too.

Do a search for Aussie Mike's thread about his shed on this site. 53'x40'. He has posted lots of pics and solicited lots of ideas from folks here.

I have a 30 x 40 with 11 ft. walls and upstairs. 3 8' x 9' garage doors with one side walk through & windows. Two poles for supports on the middle beam split the bays, lift in the middle bay with bench on the wall & cabinets, plenty of shelving along the sides, etc. If i were to build another it would be the same, and use LED lights.

I have a 26' X 30' garage with a 26' X 20' "attachment for all the other crap we seem to accumulate. The main garage has 9000# lift and heat in the floor. A wonderful addition if you need it. One side wall has benches. I will try and find more recent photos but here is some. BTW, a pickup truck barely can be worked on in a 26' deep garage.
